And finally, the finest of them all, the Vickers Supermarine Spitfire. No other comments needed.

We were promised twelve Spitfires and we got thirteen. I’ll leave you all to imagine the sound of ten of these magnificent aircraft flying in formation…

the only aircraft that deserves a full post to itself amongst other classics.
All the pics you have posted have been really nice and they give us all a good idea of the day you had.

Fantastic series of shots Tempest old chap. Grin
I'm delighted the weather was kind to you. It's been raining like stink down here for most of the day. Roll Eyes

I know you're a Duxford regular & you must let me into your secret some time. If I thought I could get as as close to those beauties as you obviously can I might give it a try some time. It's a long way for me to travel & I never got over being turned away from the special Spitfire anniversary do some years ago - although we had advanced tickets. Not been to a public do at Duxford since. Angry

a lot of old crap...not exactly my cup of tea (must be my age) but it's impressive that most of if still flies! i love the sound of a Spitfire or a Mustang. next week, i'll let you know what it's like to see five Mustangs and a couple of Spits in the air at the same time (is he going to RIAT? yes he is! Cheers chap Grin We had a fantastic day. The flightline at Duxford is open to the public for a couple of quid and you can get up close to the display aircraft with no obstructions. I always make sure we get to Duxford really early, between 8 and 9 am. That way we always get in without any trouble and get a good spot at the front. Getting in early means I get to do all the hangers and museums and retail stands well before the flying starts but it makes for a very long day. Well worth it to see the best line up of flying Warbirds anywhere.
