Well even though the weather man did his best to put a downer on this weekend, the wind stayed low, the cloud high and the rain nowhere to be seen and just for two days, the skies over Cambridgeshire once again echoed with the sound of big piston engines.
So sit back and enjoy the aviation masterpiece that is Flying Legends 2004.
First up, the fighters of the USAAF.
...
My favourite US Warbird, the mighty P-47D Thunderbolt.
...
Rob Davies’ immaculate P-51D “Big Beautiful Doll.”
...
This is the Aerial Museum’s P-51D 44-72216
...
The Old Flying Machine Co’s superb example.
...
The Fighter Collection’s P-51D “Twilight Tear” is a WW2 Duxford veteran having served with the 78th Fighter Group here during 1944.
...
TFC’s P-40M Kittyhawk.
...
The latest US Warbird to join the Fighter Collection is this magnificently restored P-39Q Airocobra.
...
This aircraft has been rebuilt to the highest standards by top Warbird restorers Fighter Rebuilders at Chino, California.
...
Mustang Ally.
...
Another look at the US Warbirds on show today.

In part two, Naval aircraft.
