My current Graphics card is a GE Force 3 with 64mb. I run AMD 1.2 with 512 SDRAM. My FPS on MS FS9 and all previous MS FS were always satisfactory even at high settings.  Recently, I am having problems with "running out of memory"  I installed Mem Turbo just to see what was happening.  On a clean boot, all unnecessary programs disabled I start with 430mb avail RAM.  By the time FS9 has loaded I am down to less than 200mb.  Over a period of perhaps a hour, the memory is further reduced below 100 and I start having problems.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on.

Thanks

If you got XP that uses 200meg of ram straight away (well on my and my brothers system it does anyhow)

Sounds like you could have a memory leak though.  You download any new planes recently? I have heard that some planes can cause problems with memory, though not experiencing this myself I can only go by what I have read.

Have you altered your page file size at all?? also how much spare room is there on your HDD if you dont have much then some of your page file space may have been used up.

I am using XP Pro. perhaps I will go back to 2000 Pro.  Plenty of Hd (80g)
Downloaded several A/c recently however I only have North American T6 (G Max) and Default A/C installed.

128 eeek wonder what else is eatin my ram when I just sat at desktop then  Embarrassed  Mind you I got XP pro and I do have anti-virus/firewall runnin as soon as i boot up maybe its that ???  Or maybe its nearin time for my yearly re-format!!

I wouldn't change OS back I do prefer XP over the other OS's I have used.  And if you do ever upgrade it has support for more ram etc.

Fresh Boot, used "End it All", Scrub RAM, Mem Turbo shows 428mb RAM Free.  Loaded FS9, Mem Turbo shows 211mb RAM Free, Flew default DC3 for approx 15 mins, RAM down to 87. Although I was down to 87mb free RAM FS9 was operating ok.  Weird ??? ???

I just ran FS9 while sitting here with this page open, and out of 1024mb, I show 565mb free. Win XP uses over 120mb alone.

XP manages the memory pretty well, and FS9 should run ok with 512mb RAM.

What Gixer said above about the page file size may be important. Is windows managing the page file size, or did you or a tweak program set it to a different value?

Try setting it to a minimum and maximum fixed size of, say, 864mb and see if you still have the problem.

Remember, it isn't actually a problem if you don't get the error message, the system will use heaps of RAM if available.
