Hi all...!

Today, the Gas Man called to read my gas meter, as is his want... 8)...!
I was busy, flying around 'Frisco Bay, as is my want... 8)...!

Spotting my Beech 18 on the screen and being very surprised, he said, "Have you got a Chipmunk there".
So I land my Beech and draged a Chippy out of my hangar, while the Gas Man parks himself in my chair.
Off he goes, out into the blue, performing loops and rolls, steep turns and dives... Shocked...!
"I'm a pilot", he says, "Based at Shobdon", "I fly my own Condor aerobatic plane"...
"This gas reading malarky is just to earn extra money to run my plane"

Well, flippin' well... Grin...!

He was highly impressed with the flight sim, never having seen one before...!
After half an hour of filling the sky with smoke trails he says...
"Next time you are over at Shobdon, give me a shout and I'll take you up for a few aerobatics"...!

....Now I was doing fine until the word "aerobatics" came up, and my thoughts immediately went to my dinner in my tummy and the thought of it being deposited into my lap.....!
..and I'm not nearly as daft brave as Ozzy, I thinks to myself... Roll Eyes...!

"Right-oh", I says, (hoping that he will keep the plane the right way up), as he made for the door...

"What about reading my gas meter?"

"Oh, blimey", he says, "I forgot all about that"...!!

LOL...!

I might be in luck for a freebee chuff around the sky in his Condor soon... Smiley...!

...so next time your Gas Man calls, you never know, it may result in a spin in a two-seater Spitfire... Shocked...!

You see, you never know who you will meet & you have to take full advantage of it when these mysterious things happen. Cheesy

I would take him up on it before he forgets. I don't think there's much danger of doing anything resembling aerobatics in the old Condor. Wink

PS. Note that we have a couple at Shoreham.

I know a gas man who fly's R/C at my club. He's gained an infamous reputation for crashing his planes. He's hit trees, the ground, both poles that support our safety net, the fence that protects the pilots. I don't know how he got his wings or how he's still able to keep them. What frightens me the most if he's a furnace repair man. Being accident pron and working with natural gas is a poor combination.  Shocked

Take the man up on his offer Foz. A little Graval will handle that upset tummy. Who knows, he may even let you take the stick. Let's just hope there aren't any large red suspension bridges in the area.  Grin

Re: the "large suspension bridge... Wink.."....I always tackle that the right way up in my Cessna 152, unlike Ozzy in his Spitfire who always aggravates the SFPD by roaring under it...upside down.... Shocked...!

a) A large Boeing aluminum tube filled with passengers with a bus driver up at the front.
b) A small, two-seater, homebuild, single prop, piston engined aeroplane. (The proper sort).... Wink...!
c) A very large South American bird. (Feathered variety).
d) A large cigar.

I think my involvement will be (b).... Wink... 8)....!

I can only remember being in a Boeing Condor aluminium tube filled with passengers and a bus driver up at the front, while smoking a Condor cigar and being waited upon by a "very large" South American bird, (not the featherd variety).... Tongue... Tongue... Tongue...!

That's funny Paul. Not having heard of this Boeing Condor you mention I looked it up. Apparaently there was such an animal. It was an unmanned top-secret spyplane. Tongue Grin http://www.hiller.org/exhibits/online-exhibits/condor/condor.html

I believe that Condor Airlines operated Boeings at one time.

In an attempt to try out one of those little Condor home-builds, I did a search on Flightsim.com and all that came up were lots Boeing, aluminium, jet-propelled tubes, filled with passengers and....you know the rest... Wink...LOL...!

Pilots of those are not over paid bus drivers, bus drivers would crap themselves at the first sign of a problem, thus the bus crash in keynsham a week before i moved Roll Eyes

However you are certainly lucky to have a gas man like that, mine comes at 8:30 gives a grumpy here to read your meter then leaves after messing up the hallway to get to the meter Roll Eyes remember your camera Mr Fozzer.

Exqueeze me!! ...... I happen to be, amongst other things, a bus driver of the wheeled variety ..... and believe me, close quarter combat driving round city centres with moaning passengers.. aggressive motorists and the ever present ghestapo inspectors is far more stressfull than pushing the Auto Pilot button and sitting back to monitor the situation .... I would beg to differ that the opposite would be the case .. the overpaid computer monitor would crap himself at the thought of being in physical control for the duration. Try 10hrs driving round any major city in the world .... then tell me that Airline pilots have a stressful job .... if mistakes are made then the result is the same .... death and injury .... but a Bus driver does it for considerably less money. As much as I respect Airline pilots, I have more respect for the guys that have to deal with the public directly... taking fares.. driving... being responsible for the public safety and taking the abuse from all and sundry.  I challenge any Airline pilot to try it for a day ... and then tell me they live a stressful life.
BUS DRIVER £5-10 per hour .... AIRLINE PILOT £100-200per hour .... Same job different medium.

RANT OVER!!
