Apart from the lack of aircraft available, this is one of the reasons I dumped CFS3 just a week after getting it.
Unfortunately I wasn't patient enough to find out what the prob was - hopefully someone will know.

B4 I forget - have u added any scenery?

Thanx. Carl

Tried to duplicate the problem but did not know what airfield so I used Alconbury.

Just two suggestions.  The most common issue is the video card driver & game settings.

Since we have the same card I would look at that first.  My driver is the Nvidia 53.03.  If might seem old to y'all but the horrible reality in driver land is the newest is not always the best especially when newer cards have been issued.

Drivers updates issued shortly after a card is released are usually the best for that card as the newer unified drivers are optimized to the new cards.

Cant remember the specific number but in Falcon 4 on a TNT2 U card the older "3" drivers prior to the "5" series were good for a 25-30% boost over the newer "5" series.

In CFS3 I have tested Nvidia beta drivers up to 61.11 & found the new ones do very weird things to my graphics like large black areas in the distance.

The other thing to look at are if your sliders are set high enough as the will drop things out if set to low.  Try at least 3 except for clouds.

1.) get a different card Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

2.) thump your computer (works sometimes for me Grin)

Stormtropper,

>>>1.) get a different card<<<

Nah,  he has the same card I do & it works fine.

Maybe the thumping might be worth a try but I would still bet on drivers first & settings second.

It happens on all airfields and all aircraft but,

After exactly 6 hours 28 minutes and 56 seconds(I got 56k) I finnally finished dloading Dogpatch Crews Korea for CFS3 and all the runways work fine in Korea (even though the installer gets most of the files from CFS3). So its not a driver or card issue

http://www.omegadrivers.net/ there a lot faster

and I just thumped my computer but I think It hurt my head more then I hurt it, maybe next time I shouldn't head ram it.

btw how did you know the distance to the airport, if you assumed it, I never asked this question.

I had the same problem and after some searching found a fix. Open teh compositetexturebudgets.xml file in notepad, you will find it in the terrains folder in the terradata.zip folder, just copy it ot the desktop then open it. (BACK IT UP FIRST) under the setting for slider position 2 thru 5 you will see a section that looksl ike this:

       <Rings AboveGroundLevel="0" MaxDistEyeInnerRing="0">
           <Ring PatchWorldDim="16384" RingDim="5" MinMaskRadius="32768" UseMips="y"/>
           <Ring PatchWorldDim="4096" RingDim="5" MinMaskRadius="8192" UseMips="y"/>
           <Ring PatchWorldDim="2048" RingDim="5" MinMaskRadius="4096" UseMips="y"/>
           <Ring PatchWorldDim="1024" RingDim="5" MinMaskRadius="2048" UseMips="y"/>
           <Ring PatchWorldDim="512" RingDim="5" MinMaskRadius="1024" DetailTileCount="128"

by changing the Usemips="y" to Usemips="n"  It fixed teh problem for me and the terrraindetail ring looks smoother with no more phantom airfields.
