Nice one Craig. Very interesting. Pic #3 is a Lockheed P2V Neptune. I don't know the type number. Strangely enough it looks very similar to this one.

That last shot looks suspiciously like a Fairey Delta to me?
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Not only is it the FD.2 but I believe that it's WG777. The same aircraft that broke the world speed record at 1132 mph - 40,000 feet over Worthing on 10th March 1956. It was the first aircraft to exceed 1,000 mph in level flight. A little piece of aviation history.
Peter Twiss, who flew it on that day, was at Tangmere to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a previous world record set by Neville Duke over the same course but much lower. I took a photo of them together. Unfortunately their old friend & fellow record-breaker Mike Lithgow was killed testing the BAC-111 & couldn't attend. He was represented by his widow.

That Whispering Giant could possibly be the one I was brought to Canada on, back in '58, by my parents......wish someone had taken a registration number back then.
