I don't know where to put this post.so will start it here.
I'm having a small problem in FS 2004 after installing add on scenery. It seems that after take off and going to spot view or even from the cockpit view any time that the landing strip or airport comes into view I get a couple of small studders of the screen. Its almost like the game has a hard time loading the info from the addon files.Puter specs are in my sig. I can supply any other info needed, never had this problem in 02........Air

I guess it's the scenery textures that takes some time to load.
It's very noticeable in 3rd party add-ons like airports...well basically everything that has crispier textures or more advance modelling than the default.
Things should be better with the event of PCI express and faster memory, but at the moment it's VERY hard to get rid of it if you want to keep the visual eye candy.

Nexus seems to have pinpointed the problem All FS9 scenery is not created equal. I have a system similar to yours except my vidcard is G4Ti4200. Mine runs as smooth as silk (with 1GB RAM); the only thing which slows it down is when there's excessive 3D cloud displayed. I can live with this as it's almost inperceptible and I like the added realism (using realworld weather)

Try other addon scenery; it may be just one massive (unfriendly) macro in the scenery. IMO, it would be of use to note the scenery author's name and avoid any of their sceneries in future

I recommensd any of Bill Malichar's or Frank Betts' sceneries -- very frame-friendly (the latter even comes with AI traffic)
