I've been trying to make a simple (though extremely large) airport for CFS1 in FSSC. But my 2d objects (taxiways, polygons) are disappearing

In Fssc
...

In CFS
...

Anyone know why?

Note: The black space at the bottom of the second pic is problem with my panel.

Will. It's a long time since I did anything for CFS1. My first thought is that you need to flatten the default 3D terrain mesh. I think you can do this for CFS1 from the Synthetic Scenery option in FSSC Edit/Scenery Properties.

Copied from FSSC Help/Tutorials.
Quote:
FS95, FS98, and CFS1 only

In the Synthetic Scenery tab, we can choose a size and picture (texture) of the ground around the vicinity of the airport. Setting the size to something other than "None" is required only if you want to change the altitude to something that is different from the default scenery, or to change the ground from water to land. Since we are doing both with our island, go ahead and set the size to the third option (14700m, 48100ft), and to any texture other than Transparent. Synthetic tiles are arranged as blocks of varying (but limited) sizes in a fixed grid. FS Scenery Creator displays the possible block sizes, and makes the closest fit of blocks to the given scenery center. The block boundary will be marked by a thick black rectangle on the editor. You may need to zoom out a few times to see the boundary.

I don't know which panel you're using. It shouldn't affect the exterior views. Try going to Spot view first before selecting Top Down view.

PS. Hit W to lose the panel or change the aircraft before taking the shot.

PPS. Read my CFS Panel Clinic. http://www.simviation.com/lair/CFSpc.htm

I'm using synthetic scenery. (I think thats why there's that black outline). I've tried it with and without synthetic scenery and still no polygons.

PS: I think I read i in a readme with one those panels that turning panel masking off in the COMBATFS.CFG file would fix the black spot.

OK then. Sorry, that was my best suggestion. Maybe someone else can help.

For the black band at the bottom of your shot read the fix in my Panel Clinic.

I notice you took the shot in Windows mode. Hit Alt + Enter & see if Full Screen mode makes a difference.

I went back and messed around with it a little and I realized that my synthetic scenery isn't working. I think its on stock scenery (that shouldn't matter though). Anyone have any Ideas????????

PS: Hagar, that fix in your panel clinic worked great. Thanks

When I was designing scenery and had a good handle on FSSC, I found that once you set your ground altitude via the "flatten area" method (which should be done as the very first thing) then when you place a runway, taxiway are parking pad they would want to hide or at best show up but do some serious flickering when in the game and on the ground, especially when you starting rolling down the runway or taxiway.

The best solution I found was that whenever you placed runways, taxiways or pads, set the elevation of these .1, .2 or .3 higher. You can do this in the properties part of whatever you are laying down. It won't be enough of a change in height to make you feel a big bump but sure eliminates lots of visual problems and your taxiways should show up just fine.
