Did you have a firewall running on either machine?

Okay turn off the firewall on each machine (especially the internal XP one if you are running XP) and hopefully the machines should be able to communicate (the XP firewall and many others block port 80 which is needed for FS comms)

Get one of the machines running as the host and then let the other connect to its session IP (best to give the session a name).

Ohhhhhhhhhh yes they can ........ its just a case of opening the correct ports so that communication can take place ... I'm in the process of writing a sticky for the top of this forum on the most common connection problems.
cheers
