Hi Guys,
Have just used Archisoft's MDLC B75 prog to port over several of Steve Robinson's GMAX made aircraft to CFS2.
The visual models look great and most, if not all, of the simple animations work well.
The prob is undercarriage.  With two of his ac they obviously have quite complcated gear, and therefore GMAX animations, which CFS2 can't interpret.
I've tried messing with the 'contact points' with no luck, so I know it's the animation.
Without the original GMAX files, but with access through the MDLC prog, is there any way of getting the gear to work properly.
A point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks    Shessi

Hi Stratobat,
Got a cure for the prob.  Used a different command string in MDLC and now all OK.  Visual model, animation all work superbly well (the undercarriage on the P1079bc and the Fw283 fold in a very complicated way)  Archisoft's MDLC b75 is superb, gets round this and can even create a 'shining' model!
The only probs are 'ghostly effects' with the skin (nothing to do with MDLC).  I'm no painter but is prob down to an alpha channel which is incorrect for CFS2.  Open with a paint prog and save with another channel?  Any 'best practice' suggestions please?

Cheers

You might try opening the textures in DXTBmp & saving out in DXT1 Opaque format. This will automatically convert them. Don't convert any transparent textures like prop disks.

Hey Shessi,

CFS2 doesn't support Alpha Channels, they make the aircraft appear see through. Either convert the textures to DXT1 without alpha's, like Hagar suggested, or try converting them to 16 bit (565) Smiley
