Airliners.net seem to have been carrying quite a few iffy pics of late. They are somewhat loosing their credibility methinks.

It's a terrible fake.
The sun is coming from the left side of the Cessna, which would be behind the 727. If the sun is behind the 727, why are the forward slats lit?
Also of note is that the 727 has no shadow, which should be below and ahead of the plane.

Maybe I'm easily fooled but I see no reason to think it's a fake. The 727 is flying down the tarmac runway which you can see quite clearly. If you click the More link there are plenty of photos by the same author taken at the same event. He looks genuine enough to me.

Yeah, but nothing that would suggest a commercial jet landing so close to GA aircraft. Also, I would think if he were that low, he would have his gear down...

It's at an air display. LOL

That picture isnt a fake. Like doug pointed out its an air display which the photographer points out in various pictures of this display.
And the sun is clearly coming from the right side of the picture as you can see from the slight over exposure of the left side of the 727 and the two GA's shadows. Its also a high enough sun to light the other side of the 727 which again is backed up by how little the shadows extend from the GA's

Well now for some reason the original link isn't working, but from what I can recall, is it not possible that the photo Kevin posted is the original (e.g. real) photo, then the plane was photoshopped into another shot, thus making the original topic shot a fake?

It's real enough. That shot Kevin posted is taken from a different angle & possibly by a different person. You lot are so used to faking stuff yourselves you can no longer recognise the real thing when you see it. LOL

1. It's not a fake!
2. As mentioned above, it is doing a low pass as a display, and is NOT landing.
3. The link does not work because
www.airliners.net
is down for maintenance.
4. All photos on that website are 100% genuinely REAL. They have an extensive, and rigorous screening process leaving only the highest quality shots to get accepted and displayed.
www.airliners.net
is a highly reputable source for airliner pictures, and aviation-related discussion.

I suggest that this is debatable. Some fakes are so good they would pass all but the most careful scrutiny.
However, before accusing anyone of faking photos, ask yourself why any photographer worth the name would risk their reputation by submitting a fake.

Anet has had its share of fakes but usually someone notices quickly and it will be removed quickly. I feel their standards are a little to high though, unless you can afford some pretty expensive equiptment and are an expert at post processing your image will be rejected 90% of the time

Also that's why the site is the best out there IMO...many pics are rejected but I'm not really fond of browsing thru blurry amateur photos with poor lighting and so on.

Better steer clear of my topics in this forum then.
PS. They might not be perfect but at least I can guarantee that none of my photos are fakes.

LOL its not so much the blurred photos i have a problem with, yes they should be rejected. Its when they are rejected for being slightly off center or a tree in the background is off center. I personally am liking myaviation.net, it brings some really interesting photos to the public you wouldnt usually see due to their poor quality. Theres only so many times i can bare to look at a 777 on final approach to heathrow from the exact same angle. Or heaven forbid a DC10 from the back at schipol, they have a bad double reject, then why are there 70 photos of united 777's approaching heathrow same color same angle.

I agree. Myaviation.net seems to be a little more "down to earth".

A.net is known for their high quality shots. To sacrifice that just to make everyone able to submit pics would basically turn their servers into a file storage facility in under 20 seconds.
If you want to post pics of lesser quality, there are countless places to do so. But A.net has set a standard. Practice and achieve that standard and you'll soon be seen by everyone who frequents the site.
As always, don't lower the bar, jump higher.

I think this is a fairly recent phenomenon. Digital editing is common now & almost anyone can do it with the right software a certain amount of practice. In the old days of conventional photography they said the camera never lied although it could & very often did. Now, if someone posts a photo of anything unusual everybody immediately shouts out "It's a fake" even if it isn't. That's my theory & I'm sticking to it.
