This sounds more like a problem for a auto garage, but after messing with some of the realism settings for fight 2k4, the WONERFUL YF-23 model makes a LOUD banging noise when over 3 G's. I looked though the sound files, can't find the bangs. Tried moving the realism settings around, it's still there.

Is there a prefs file for aircraft settings that I could kill to cure antics like this?

Try to figure out which wav file it is using for a overspeed indication. I had a B737-200 that would play a song every time it went into over speed. Blew my mind the first time it did it .Sounded like I had turned on a radio. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. But when I compared the b737-200 wuth the 737-400 that was when i spotted the odd wav file. I replaced the one from the b737-200 with the one the b737-400 uses and solved the problem.  8)

I did locate that, it is the standard overspeed siren. I watch the G load meter, it only happens at 3 g's and above. When I light the burners, it goes constantly. The only thing I can think of is that it is some fault with the crash detect, or one of the effects has somehow gotten a sound attatched to it. Only the crash noises are close to the noise I hear under load, except the banging noise is much quicker.

Perhaps its the airframe stress noise? If you do more than 3g for a while do you get a crash noise and something to do with aircraft stress in the message line at the top?  ???
