You might like to give the Newcastle upon Tyne Aero Club a ring. http://www.newcastleaeroclub.co.uk/
Quote:
We are based at Newcastle International Airport in the north-east of England, a location which is ideal for both training and recreational flight.

The club operates 7 days a week and has its own instructors, fuel supply and maintenance facilities and a comfortable clubhouse restaurent and bar. Our members also enjoy some of the lowest cost private hire and pilot training in the country.

Unfortunately their site is still under construction with no price details.

According to local airfield in my area, it can cost on average $3000CND to lean to fly from beginning to end which is about 2000 pounds.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. Simply a matter of luck. I knew you lived in the Newcastle area so I did a quick search on Google. Wink

I couldn't find any myself but I don't know the area. There might be a list of flying clubs somewhere. I would try a magazine like Private Pilot. Or you could try the local Yellow Pages under Flying Clubs. Pleasure trips are fine, if you can get them & just want the experience. If you want proper flying instruction you would need to join a club. You might need to travel further afield to find somewhere cheaper.

Sounds like you are, i pay about AU$120 per hour for a lesson and that's about 60 pounds.
