For your convenience and consideration, I have compiled the  programs and files necessary to convert Gmax into FSDS2 into one kit and uploaded them with a small tutorial on how to accomplish this.

Here is basically how it is done:

Porting Gmax into FSDS2 is a bit of a process.  You will need the following files and programs:

md3.exp.zip
3D Exploration
CVA Converter

1.  Unzip and install the Md3.dle file to the plugins folder in Gmax
2.  Export the file of your choosing from Gmax as a .Md3 file.
3.  Import the .md3 file into 3d Exporation.
4.  Export the file from 3D Exploration in .dxf (Autocad) format
5.  Import the .dxf file into the CVA converter
6.  Export the file as a .fsc (FSDS Project) or .fsp (FSDs Part)

It's a bit of a complicated process, but it all works out fine in the end.  I have seen more inconsistencies going from FSDS to Gmax than Gmax to FSDS.

That took a lot of pounding my head on my desk to accomplish.  The hardest part was finding 3d Exploration, since it has been replaced with another program that costs a fortune.  I hope someone gets saved a boatload of trouble by downloading this kit...

Copyright alarm, buddy!
You shure you're alowed to distribute any of the fles?
I would be in particular worried to upload Deep Exploration as it's a commercial programm.

Ouch, you know I was so excited about finally figuring this out, I never even thought of that...   Tongue   I may get lucky as 3D Exploration is a older version and obsolete.  I'm going to have to contact them.

In the meantime, here is a page with several programs capable of converting from .md3 to .dxf formats.

I'm not sure that's a good idea Kevin. Might be best to keep quiet. Please think about it before doing anything hasty. Lips Sealed
