Okay, i often fly in multiplayer with a friend, and we enjoy doing averagly long flights in the 737 together (eg. L.A. to Vegas), now take of and flight is fine, but is there some form of guide to setting up an approach and landing in flight simulator? I see many screenshots of people making perfect dead on approaches..

Usually ill end up coming in sideways and completely botch the landing, so, any tips and tricks would be handy

Thanks

Perfect dead on approaches? apparantly you haven't seen Ozzy72's screenshots  Grin

But you have to know the basics of aviation, and the relationship between lift, pitch and speed.
Also be aware of the current wind. The most common mistake inexperienced Simmers make is that they forget to compensate for wind drift.

You might want to land at ILS runways, so you can have localizer and glideslope guidance.

I would recommend you to download the 737 landing video (not a video actually, it's .fsr file, recorded with FS) which is available at simviation downloads. It should have a file name of "ldg737".

When, I was not good at landings, I watched this thing and it helped a lot. You can see how the guy starts the approach, what speed he uses, when to flare and such things.

Of course, you have to know what Nexus mentioned first (See some of Ozzy's screenshots as well  Grin). And, a joystick helps a lot, too.

9th from bottom (ldg747). But I see that it is sorted under FS2002 utilities. I thought this format is compatible with FS2004. I am not sure if its or not.

Try the file, if it doesn't work then you may ask somebody talented here to make you a flight video of one of his landings. The file size of a landing video wouldn't be larger than 500kb, I guess.

edit: Sorry, the file is of 747 not 737, and I guess I haven't downloaded it from simv, couse I couln't find it there as well.

Pratice makes perfect Wink

Well, you just got to find the best way for you. I like to do it visually, like looking at the runway. I can't do the ILS thing, always miss the runway, but I have to use that in bad weather....thats why people normally don't see me land anything in fog or heavy precipitation, thats cuz I don't land.

Well, just pratice, I'm working on the ILS, slowly getting it right.
