Cowboys from Hell is a great song my friends.
"Here we come reach for your gun
And you better listen my friend, you see
It's been slow down below,
Aimed at you we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talking no tall tales friend
'Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell"
Agree very much my friend.

Jeezz, I really can't decide! I mean, I love 'em all, except I'm not that fond of Pantera. But it's a toss up between Megadeth, Sabbath, and Maiden. And after thinking about it for a while I still can't decide, so I'll just vote for Megadeth, because Dave is awsome.

Ahh crap My favourite three are Maiden, Sabbath and Old Metallica. I really don't know. I guess my vote goes to Maiden because they are the more obvious choice but they really don't take over the other two

Out of the choices given, I have to say Slayer, Hell I would have said Slayer even if they weren't one of the choices, second place would go to Pantera (are they still around?).
Metallica rocked up until the black album when they started making money, even though I like some of the stuff they did after that, I don't think they've done anything that compares to "Ride the Lightning" or "Master of Puppets", seems like they kinda went "radio metal", and their latest CD, while being an attempt to sound young again, it just didn't do it for me, like the damage has been done you know?
Megadeth was also great early on, but the last few CD's started to sound like Dave was running out of good ideas, the music was starting to sound a little too melodic and "poppish" or something, despite his injuries, it was probably a good idea for him to go into retirement anyway, just like all bands should do before they go gay.
Priest, Maiden and Sabbath although cool back in they day are kind of like "Granddad metal" now, dontcha think?
I used to be the biggest Kiss fan in the world when I was growing up, but I never considered them "Metal", they are like the kings of theatrical showmanship but their show hasn't changed in 30 years, and they have far too many gay songs to be "metal".
Even Pantera's last couple of CD's were starting to sound "stale", not nearly as catchy as the early stuff.
So Slayer wins because they have never gone "radio" or "gay", they still make some of the heaviest music out there and never sound like they are trying to get on the radio or make money.
SLAYER RULEZ!!

Sadly not - I believe Phil's too busy with Superjoint Ritual these days
Not saying they're a crap band - just, they're not as good as the mighty Pantera.
About Slayer - not going radio : THANK SATAN/GOD
They have in my opinion THE BEST live show ever - seen 'em 5 times in 3 years.

Maiden? Grandad metal? I don't think so. Their last album went number one here for a while. They still pack out the live shows as well. And in case you haven't noticed Ozzy is really quite famous and whenever the original line up of Sabbath do a show people go crazy.
If you can find a more powerfull singer than that one man air raid siren Bruce Dickinson then I will be surprised.

Countdown to Extinction is good, but Rust in Peace it way better!
I think the biggest problem with Metallica's new musical direction is that they are trying to please a greater audience. I think they should have just excepted the success they had with "...And Justice For All" and the Black Album, and moved on. Just kept on doing what they do best, metal! They shouldn't have gone chasing more money.

I REALLY wanted to add them, but figured that Kiss would be more popular - tho I shud've put Dream Theater in - no-one has voted for Kiss.

Have replaced Kiss with Dream Theater due to the fact that Kiss really aren't very METAL.
Now lets see how it goes

Eew such a hard choice.. they're all so different, its hard to pick one over another. They all have their own style, so I usually pick who to listen to based on what I feel like listening to at the moment. I see no Cradle of Filth on the list, are they not considered metal? Best show I've ever seen was Type O Negative and Cradle of Filth in Cleveland last year

Cradle rocks
Yeah they are a bit extreme, and I know a lot of people have trouble with the vocalist, but musically they are an awesome band.

Now yer talkin'!
Type O Negative is one of the most underated bands out there, I like everything they have ever done but still consider "October Rust" to be one of my favorite recordings of all time.
Cradle of Filth just plain rocks!! I have most of their CD's and the DVD, unfortunately I didn't catch them on tour with Type O, I went to an earlier Type O show on the same tour with Lacuna Coil opening. I've seen Type O several times now but have never had the chance to see Cradle, my brother saw them at Ozfest last year.
