I just thought I would share with you that I've installed 'Real Scene 2004 USA Terrain and Landclass' and it's quite impressive. I had Eddie Denney's previous rendition for 2002 and I was equally impressed. It's not cheap though and comes on a DVD disc at a whopping 3gb or somewhere near this but for my money it's worth every penney/cent.
While I'm here, can I ask if anyone has a tip for blurred scenery. This has probably been raised before, my apologies. I seem to remember in the days of 2002 there was a small tweak to 2002 cfg . The tip (not mine I hasten to add) was to raise the 'Terrain_Extended_Levels' in the 2002 cfg from 1 to 4 increases the textire resolution levels so that the first transition is much smoother than that produced by the default settings. You can also see higher resolution textures at a greater distance by making this change. The theory went on to say that forcing the program to render fewer texture levels from one transition to another can help with the texture 'catch-up' problem. I was going to try this in FS9 cfg but there is a number in the file currently at '7074768'. Any comments would as ever be appreciated.

I do not recall the "terrain extend levels" in fs2002, but it has been a while. I am going go go out on a limb here and say I think that is controlled in the setup menu by moving the sliders. I would not change anything in the fs9 cfg file.
In the setup menu select display and you should see several sliders that control how detailed you want the scenery to be. 8)

I have gone into my FS9.cfg and tweeked the terrain radius texture levels so that everything within about 5 -10 miles of me is pretty clear. I keep a backup of the original and tweek the FS9.cfg to my hearts delight. Granted things may slow down a bit once you increase the visibility of the ground textures. I have not noticed a terrible drop in fps.

Thanks guys for your replies. I'll give '21' a trial and see what sort of results I get.
