The forecast wasn't too promising & it looked like rain but I decided to chance it. Never trusted those weather people anyway. Roll Eyes
One place I always intended visiting (but never got round to it) is the old Chalk Pits Museum at Amberley. Now called the Amberley Working Museum it's only a few miles from here. I know there's a few James Bond fans on this forum. Does this look familiar?

How about this?

Here's a close-up of the inscription.

I'd completely forgotten that this is the location where the mine & airship sequences in "A View to a Kill" were filmed. I remember seeing the blimp flying around here at the time. It's true what they say. You can travel hundreds of miles to see interesting things but often miss what's on your own dooorstep. Wink

Look at that beautiful blue sky & cotton-wool clouds. Just the job. Despite the best efforts of that idiot Michael Fish & his cronies it turned out to be a smashing day. On a bank holiday Monday too. Shocked Who said it's always raining in England? Tongue Cheesy

Now I recognized that without getting to the skip-truck.
My mum actually held Roger Moores hand, as whilst filming this he cut his hand open and had to attend A&E at the Cottage Hospital in Chalfont St. Peter when my mum was on duty.
The doctor was really condescending to my mum trying to look good in front of Sir Roger (as he is now), and he told the doctor off 8). Mum came home on cloud nine (Sir Roger is her second favourite actor after Richard Chamberlin), she was well out of it and just kept saying "I held Roger Moores hand" Roll Eyes
Then to top it all she was on duty the next night and he sent a HUGE (I mean f***ing enormous) bouquet of flowers to her (she couldn't fit it in the back of her Renault 11 properly). She still has the card at home which reads "To Nurse Osborne, thank you for your kind ministrations, love Roger Moore".
I dread watching View To A Kill with her as she drools like a rabid dog Tongue Roll Eyes Lips Sealed

Well Hagar, it may not rain in England much.... - yeah I agree, Oxford is fantastic.... but up here in Scotland it is a different matter. Roll Eyes Grin Just mentioning that to anyone who may mistake England for Britain. The forecasters are rubbish up here. In England they have a high chance of getting it right, but up here regardless of what they forecast and regardless of what you see outside - sunshine or not -  you always never leave without yr brolly! I miss the weather of the fair south. Roll Eyes

Hope you enjoyed it Ivan. If the weather was like it is in my shots you were very lucky. Wink

Well Ben, I'm not pretending it doesn't rain in England. Of course it does & we get our fair share. It's raining right now as a matter of fact & the weather can be changeable. The forecasters rarely get it right although they have improved in recent years. I've always supected they rely too much on modern technology & never bother to actually look outside, if they ever did. Roll Eyes

They never get it right for the area where I live as this little strip along the south coast is protected by the South Downs. The weather is very often completely different on the other side. I was asking for it yesterday as the museum is located right on the Downs & the most likely place it would rain if it was going to. I always carry a large brolly in the car but rarely use it. Those fangled contraptions are more trouble than they're worth & getting wet never bothered me. Wink
