I am new to this group but I have been in simulators for many years. After a few year absence, I bought a new PC and FS 2004. I am temporarily using a Logitech 3D Pro until my CH Control yoke arrives ( ordered a new USB version).
I notice that even with the Rudder sensitivity turned to minimum, steering on the runway during takeoff is pretty spastic. I am either swerving one way or the other. Has anyone had this same problem with FS2004 and are there any solutions for reducing the sensitivity, besides the FS menu?
Thanks

I guess, the problem is not with the rudder. If you cannot hold the stick at the center position precisely, then you'll be applying aileron, and this makes the aircraft turn.
I have the same problem (FS2002). I don't know why this happens. Of course, I expect that ailerons will make the aircraft turn, even when on the rwy, but it should't be that much, I guess.
If you're sure that you do not apply ailerons, then I don't know what the problem is.
I'm trying to land&&This aeroplane of ours gracefully&&But it seems just destined to crash&&(Björk - So Broken)

First, go into control panel and click gaming devices or whatever is there for joysticks, check to see it's normal in the settings there.
If it's ok in control panel, then make sure you gave got some NULL applied in the games rudder setting (1/4 to 1/2 Null should do it for a test), if Null didn't fix it, then you might have the same problem I do. I get a rudder that goes nuts.
To fix it: I go into my FS9.cfg and delete my joystick entry, all the lines pertaining to the joystick setup, they are in a couple sections.
What I often find there is multiple sections for my joysticks config, I don't know why that happens..... but I delete them all and save the file.
Next time you run FS9 (this problem occurs in CFS2 as well!) it will write a new .cfg section for your joystick and you will have to reset the settings for it to your preference, but the problem should disappear.
Note: back up your FS9.cfg file first, just in case.
