Great stuff GTO Wink
Its fun, a good idea to avoid nausea is to look out of the cockpit as much as possible, it helps your brain to cope with what your inner-ear is saying.

At first non-ATC is better just so you can get the feel of the plane without being shouted at Grin
But you'll have to learn ATC for your PPL (I think this is mandatory in the US now), so the sooner you get used to being shouted at the better Grin
Keep us posted on your progress Wink

Discuss the nausea with the instructor so he is aware of it, he may schedule your training for early mornings in calm air, or make other suggestions. It will probably settle down quickly as you become accustomed to flying.

The odd person doesn't get over it. They can still fly. One guy in our club is a fine pilot but finds nausea debilitating, so he limits his flying to smooth air.

Don't dwell on it, look out the window and have some fun. Students tend to keep their heads "in the cockpit" with a focus on intruments at first, this needs to be overcome. Looking out will usually help nausea and will certainly make a better pilot out of you.

I never get motion sickness, but I felt a little queazy on my first Instructional flight, it was no problem after that.

Its a good idea to keep your head out of the cockpit anyway. But dont forget to develop a habit for checkin them guages.
As far as the controlled field thing goes. Yeah you have to have controlled field landings. But the the problem is that they're usually busy airports. So you send more time on the ground. Burning hours Waiting to taxi, waiting to run up, waiting to take off. Give me a small uncontrolled field any day. When I'm paying by the hour, I want to spend my money in the air.

Congratulations!  Isn't that an increadible feeling?  I still remember my first flight about 8 years ago when I just turned 13... most increadible thing then, and even more so now!

And as for towered/non-towered... I got my PPL around Seattle WA, so I am more than used to ATC.  On my first solo I was landing in the pattern with a 727, a 737, and the only Stratoliner in flying condition in the world.  And having flowin the friend who learened on the other side of the mountains (with practically no ATC experience) and friends from around here... (and having learned from here) I definately recommend getting in A LOT of time at towered airports.  Once you start on your instrument rating it doesn't really matter, as you're always gonna be talking to controllers. (Although, the transition may be more difficult)

And as for nausea... oh, just wait for the unusual attitude recoveries... those can be real unfomfortable the first few times, (you'll get over it, but just LET YOUR INSTRUCTOR KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!! lol) but now I've done it so much, I cannot wait for the next time we do it! lol  For some reason I just love that disorenting feeling, looking up at the pannel and recovering in like 2 seconds with both attitude and heading indicators covered, under the hood....  oohhh, fun stuff!!

I'm on my 3rd going on 4th flight.I got my flight bag filled with goodies(ie:Jeppensin Flight School, FAR/AIM,and more)My instructor is really cool. But one thing happened on my last flight that scared me, about a minute before landing I felt like I was riding Nitro(Six Flags ride) after eating a big lunch Lips Sealed. Other than that the flight was fine.Well I have to get back to my flight books..Cya Grin

One thing that helps with motion sickness is having the controls in hand yourself...even if you aren't as smooth the body can relate it's actions with it's motions...basically it knows what to expect. Smiley

Congratulations on flying Grin

I'd recommend flying to a controlled airport often after you get used to flying the plane.  I regret not flying into the local class C airspace with an instructor while still learning to fly, the experience would have helped to smoothe things out on my recent flights through class B and C.
