Have many times considered making a video where I do a juicy approach. Too bad here in Europe we don't have alot of them, but things can get a little interesting in the Alps though  Smiley
Video starts at downwind leg, just before making a right 180 degree turn to interecept the runway heading for 08. Flaps at 30, gear down and autobrakes set at 3. Anything more than that is totally unnecessary for this runway. I will select flaps 40 rather late because the added drag is so great.

Weather was very kind only light turbulence and a slight wind (091/4). I managed to land this aircraft just before the mist started to roll in from the east. I was very lucky the weather permitted me to do this, and it's all visual (no autopilot)

The video is not edited, and there are no exterior shots, just cockpit and wingview  Smiley
Oh and I apologize for the bad quality, I'm not really Oliver Stone of FS movies...  Sad

http://webb.informatik.gu.se/~s02henke/nexus/Transavia737landing.avi

(right click and select save target as)
Video size is 28mb approx.

Wow, that took forever to download on a cable modem... but very very nice video. Cheesy You have such a smoothe computer. No sputters or freezes. Interesting airport, way out in the booneys. And for as long as you turned, I was surprised that you haven't a full 360 turn....  Grin You really should have some exterior shots if you make another vid, and possibly the cabin. Exterior would be better though.  Grin

Sorry about the download time, but the file is on a 100mbit server though, so I blame your slow cable connection Wink

Yes I know exterior shots is desireable, but if i switched to exterior view, the aircraft textures would take some 2 secs to show up (due to the heavy workload during the video capture) so instead of having you guys staring at a white airplane I decided to skip exterior shots  Embarrassed

And yes I'm quite comfortable with my system  Cheesy

What did you use to create the video?  I am in the process of creating some right now using a digital camera but after all the conversions I lose a lot of quality.

Funchal.

I vote for TNCM...it would be great to see the island scenery and water effects on your computer.

Well TNCM is beautiful and all, but hardly as challenging as Funchal (which I'm considering to shoot)

Athlon 64 (3200+, but it's overclocked)
Radeon 9800XT graphics (overclocked aswell)
TwinMos DDR400 (1gb of memory)
S-ATA harddrive from Maxtor.

The sim runs pretty well, but as you notice the ground texture stutters but not the aircraft. Movements about the y and x axis is smooth. haven't found a solution yet  Embarrassed

You know JR, technology now-a-days is pretty affordable. I making my own right now. All you have to know is what parts you need, and someone to build it for you. I going to build a little better than his computer for under $2,000, mines is around $1,750. Here's the specs on it so far.

Athlon 64 (3400+)
1 GB Corsair Extreme Memory
X800 XT (Reason I don't have my comp yet)
120 GB Seagate
And drives, case, ect.

And Nexus, one request. I would like to see how long it takes you to load up FS. From Desktop to in game. Eh?

Judging from the video, my computer handles FS just about as well as yours.  I too have a slight ground texture stuttering "issue", especially when running the instant replay.  I too am stumped.  It's almost like the ground catches a "snag" before slipping back into place.  Sounds much worse than it actually is when described, but its an annoyance nonetheless.

Where did you host the video?  I am having issues with finding places to host my videos and that is all that keeps me from posting them at this point.    ???

Wow, impressive rig you'll have  Grin

But ehm...1750 dollars for that?
Dude you're getting ripped off. I bought mine for just under 1300 bucks  Wink
But I built the system myself and that alone will save you lots of cash I guess.
Good that you avoid Twinmos memory though, not compatible with all motherboards for the 64 processor  Angry

I'm also glancing at the new cards from both ATi and Nvidia, but then checked some benchmarks and it revealed only a frame rate gain of some 5 FPS...not really worth it at all. =/

Well do you know of any other options?  What are some cheap, if not free, places to host videos?

Nexus, if I'm getting ripped-off, that's bad. But if you know where to get cheaper products, that's good. Where do you buy your parts? I going through Newegg right now, but it's not too late to look the other direction. Plus I am having someone do it for me, but he's a friend, so I assume it's free, but you have to pay anyways, because you'll feel bad if you don't...  Wink

with your budget I could threw in an Athlon 64 FX, which basically whoops my A64 3200+ pretty good... Embarrassed

I always feel you get ripped off when buying from such websites. don't know where you live but here in Sweden I know some pretty good dealers (my brother is in the comp. business), and they'll get it for me, reduce the amount of middle hands and the price becomes fairly reasonable.

Newegg has good prices, so i wouldn't worry, also I calculated the current dollar compared to my currency, and it's not as bad a I thought. The dollar has really plummeted lately here (going from a multiplier of 9 to 7...)

Let us know when you get the system running - if you have the time...I was like a child when I pushed the power button for the 1st time  Grin
