Wing views are just that. A view as if you were looking out of a window over the wing. Some planes only have what I call a window view and you do not ever see any part of the wing. The other planes you can actually see the wing and the engines that are on the wing just like you were in a real plane. To access these views use the arrows on the number pad. Make sure num lock is on.
The 4 key looks left the 6 key looks right  the 3 key looks backright and the 1 key looks backleft the 5 key looks down at the ground the 7 and 9 keys look forward left & forward right relaseing the key returns you back to looking forward. You must be in cockpit mode in order to use the wing views. 8)

True wingviews include virtual cabins that you can walk through using Active Camera and a series of keyboard commands that I can't remember because I stopped using AC when it went payware.  lol  Oh, and you've got to be in VIRTUAL cockpit mode to see 'em.

Look for anything made by Meljet (aka Melvin Raffi).  Warning though, these planes, as beautiful and complex as they are, are monster framerate killers.
