Hi, if it's the mission i have  problems with, you have to time your take off run 'til the wingmen are far enough apart not to collide, as they will try to formate on your position as soon as you start rolling. Shocked

Without you moving? Not seen that before Shocked it sometimes happens if you change the mission player aircraft for a more powerful one, & i think it's the computer compensating by reducing the wingmen, sounds nuts i know, it happens too often for it to be a coincidence. The only other thing is a bug in the mission itself, wrong height setting for the wingmen, engines not on etc. Have a go at changing things in 'Mission Builder' if you keep the original download outside CFS2 & just copy & paste into missions folder you can just replace the altered files as you want if it's NBG, thats how i got into it, trial & error.

This may not be exactly what you were looking for but these are my notes about carrier take-off:

I also made tests on taking off from a carrier. The results were much the same, with default airfile your wingmen have a much better changes of surviving.

With modified airfile I noticed that the "safest" formation in wich to start in was FINGERTIP. With other formations the losses were numerous. (at least if you take off asap, look below)

But I also tested a work around for that:

When taking off, instead of rushing things and taking off as soon as possible, wait for the wingmen to circle around. Take off when they are on the downwind leg, or otherwise flying straight and level.

This because when you take off, they will try to form up asap, making them to turn to you instantly. And if they are in the middle of turning the other way, they start turning towards you and usually stall and crash.

There is a thead about crashing wingmen on this same forum, you might want to check it out if you have not done so allready
