Hello fellow flight simmers!

Well, after thinking this over I decided I wanted to try something out.  Basically, I would like to assemble a small team (or big =]) of fellow enthusiasts interested in designing FREEWARE aircraft.  The thought of payware is in my mind but WAYYYY DOWNNN the road (so don't think i'm trying to rip anyone off).  Let me give a little explanation.

I was in the military for 8 months as a West Point cadet before i got injured and left, so "military" things are a very big deal to me.  Surprisingly, I'm not much of a fan of military aircraft (well, I ove C5's) however the military part of me that I would like to put into this design group is PERFECTION.  I would like to assemble a team of hard working people that are interested in helping everyone out, team members and fellow community members alike, for the great good-- that greater good is Flight Simulator!

I intend on becoming a pilot someday (in fact, i got offered a position at Delta Connection Academy which I turned down because of my army commissioning in May '07) so this is something i will be taking very seriously.  I would liek to extend invitations to ANYONE with some skills (in anything you feel can be of help) that is willing to give 110% all the time.

Please feel free to respond to me or contact me via e-mail or instant messenger.  I am online 24/7 pretty much and my away message will be up if im not around so please contact me.

If we can get something out there, we will evetually open up a "donation" portion to our site which will go right back into our work.  I'm not looking to make bucks here...I don't expect to be able to do that...I just want to makle quality add-ons and maybe..just maybe...get mentioned in a magazine article someday as a group that puts out some DAMN GOOD quality freeware!

HOOAH!

what kind of aircraft are you looking to make? Airliners, Business Jets, Turbo props.
What will you use to make them. FSDS/2, GMax or another program

I might be able to help with basic fuselage constructionon jet aircraft and stuff (haven't tried making a prop yet.) but only if we are using GMax

P.s. Welcome to Simviation

When I see this type of post, several questions bring to mind:

1. What do YOU bring to the party, other than C3?

2. What modelling/texturing/flight dynamics/panel making/research expertise do you have?

In an ad-hoc group as a flightsim design group, the "leader" usually provides direction and some significant content.   Note that, given enough members, the group's director, apart from providing content and direction, also coordinates the projects, and bringing the final product together.

However, the leader MUST have some flightsim modelling knowledge in order to effectively coordinate the project.

This post is in no way meant to discourage the forming of a new design group, but rather to direct and clarify the request.  Remember, you're "selling" a concept: why should a flightim modeller "work" for you, if you're just going to "be the boss".  Where is YOUR 'value added' to the project?

Hi, i would be looking at making commercial aircraft only.  =]

Thanks for the welcome, but I was already here under a different alias for awhile - "beukstylez 03". For some reason I couldn;t log in under that name anymore.  ???

I do plan on getting more fmailiar with the design aspect of flight sim before i get this started up. this was more of a pre-flight check sorta thing...jsut to see if anyone would be interested.

However, i do not see why a leader MUST be an expert at his craft.  he just needs to be able to coordinate things on all levels.  But yes, I will take your advice, I will be looking into Gmax and tinkering with it and becoming comfortable with it long before this gets started.

Not an "EXPERT" but knowledgeable enough to understand the problems, and coordinate the solutions, possibly pitch in, etc.

What I'm trying to get across, and this is a generic statement, is that when selling the Design Group idea, make sure that folks know that the design group leader is a coordinator who's willing to help and direct, and not a dictator (do as I say or else).

Good luck on the enterprise!

Definitely a good idea. It's a fairly steep learning curve but far from very difficult. The name of the game is 'persistence'. Stick with it & you'll crack it.

Once you've released an aircraft or 2 you should be in a good position to get other designers to co-operate & work with you ..

Good luck  Smiley
