A few more shots taken during my day out. The police MD902 arrives to refuel.
...

Bolkow Junior taking off. Two are based here.
...

Pretty little Pulsar landing. It doesn't look much bigger than some models I've seen.
...

The Jodel I flew in earlier going off for another trip. This belongs to a group. One of the best ways to afford your own aircraft.
...

This belongs to one of the owners of the airstrip.
...

A Tiger Moth arrived just as I was thinking of leaving. I helped the pilot turn it round. I used to do this on my own. It was heavier than I remembered.
...

This tree is a memorial to the pilots operating from here in 1944. 8 never returned.
...

I took this from my car window on my way home. Mount Caburn. An Iron Age settlement. The Caburn itself is said to be one of the clods of earth thrown afar as the Devil was digging the Devil's Dyke, another local landmark. Other fallen clods are said to have made Chanctonbury Ring, Cissbury, Rackham Hill and the Isle of Wight. A Giant by the name of Gil is said to have walked the slopes of Mount Caburn, hurling his hammer from the summit. It looks more impressive from a different angle but I didn't stop this time. I used to fly R/C slope soarers from the top. Not sure I could get up there now even if we were still allowed to use it. These guys have taken over all the choice spots. Roll Eyes
...

Hope this gives you some idea of what goes on round here on a typical weekend. Lots of people out there enjoying themselves. A very pleasant day out. Cheesy

Even with all this fine proof in our faces daily, I still hear from some people that they just don't think Digital Photography is a worthy investment yet ?

I must admit to turning a bit green today, with your posts Doug......... Wink   8)
Fine stuff, all the way........... Grin

Most "proper" photographers I've met at various air displays & events over the last few years have told me they now use nothing but digital cameras. These are usually far more complicated than my simple automatic. From what I've seen the image quality is much clearer than you usually get on film. This makes it ideal for photographing aircraft.

Thanks Ken. No need for envy. I know I'm very fortunate to live where I do & I'm not trying to score points. It was seeing your shots that convinced me to try a digital camera. Mine has its limitations but the compact size makes up for that. I carry it with me almost everywhere these days. That's why I chose this particular model. I'm still getting used to it & still making stupid mistakes. I realised after landing that my shots from the Jodel would have been much better if I'd remembered to switch the bloomin' flash off. No such thing as too much fun in an airplane... particularly if it is free! An afternoon to remember I'd say... Roll Eyes Cool. 8)
