Still at the airstrip. One of the owners of this place is an airline captain & also a keen modeller. A really nice chap. The local R/C club is welcome to fly there & has its own small airstrip alongside the real one. They have a receiver tuned to the aircraft frequency to get warnings of any full-sized activity. I wandered over there after my flight & asked if I could join them for a while. This is a really idyllic place to spend a few hours in the sunshine. Here's a few of the models. I forget what some of them are.

The Wots Wot - a popular Chris Foss design.

Then, what do you know. Some more old friends turned up out of the blue. Among them was Chris Foss, one of the most talented R/C fliers in the country. This chap is in a class of his own.
Here's his own Xtra Wot, his latest design. This one is powered by a Laser 150 4-stroke.
...

Chris was trying out some new radio gear & treated us to a wonderful display of precision aerobatics. I wish I could show you what he can do but photos don't do it justice.

I haven't touched my own models for about 3 years. It was enjoyable chatting about the old days & watching the others for a change. A really nice day out. What a wonderful place. Wink

Thanks for the comments guys. It was all the more enjoyable for being totally unexpected. Met a few old friends & made plenty of new ones. It's nice to have friends.  All this for the price of a gallon of petrol. I couldn't have planned it better. Grin

I forgot to mention that Chris has a full-sized Piper Cub, Robin DR 220 & some sort of biplane, maybe a Tiger Moth or Stampe. So much going on I forgot to ask him. He also flies the tug plane for the Southdown Gliding Club & used to have shares in a sailplane. I reminded him of his offer of a trip in the Cub. He said, "Any time, just give me a ring". Nah. Chris has been doing this since he was knee-high to a gnat. He started back in the days of single-channel valve radio gear with no transistors or chips in sight. He hates the very mention of 'puters although he was trying out the latest digital radio gear. He gave me a demo & said it's the first one he's been able to understand. His exact words were, "I want to spend my time flying, not reading instructions".

Lovely day for R/C Hagar. I haven't been anywhere near the flying field this week. First of all, the epoxy had come loose on the vertical stabalizer of my Avistar. I managed to catch it and fix it. Secondly it's been raining all weekend.  Cry I really need to get my Tomahawk up and ready but I need to get some things for it first.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.
