It was such a nice morning I decided to find a local airstrip I was told about. This was once an Advanced Landing Ground used in the D-Day invasion. In fact the first aircraft to take to the air on D-Day flew from there, providing top-cover over the Omaha and Gold beach-heads.
After a nice drive through the beautiful Sussex countryside I found it. A few planes but not much going on so I looked around for signs of habitation. The first person I met was an old friend I haven't seen for something like 30 years.
I asked if I could take some photos of his pretty little Jodel. He said "Of course. I'm just going up. Would you like to come?". Well, what would you have said?
Here we go.
That looks like the sewage farm in "Magnificent Men.
Practicing a few steep turns.
There's the English Channel.
This is Beachy Head looking right along the coast towards my home.
What a lovely morning. More later.

Ah yes, the " Rifleman " effect......comes from hanging around airfields with nothing but a mouth and stories of flying, to get you into the cockpit for a circuit or two.....
............Lucky Stiff ! ! !

Thanks Ken. As you're all well aware by now I have plenty of mouth. I'll bore anyone prepared to listen. I'm not fussy. LOL
As the old saying goes, it's not so much what you know but who you know. Surprising how the camera helps too.
