The Avro CF-105 Arrow, a Mach 1.5+ interecptor. That overspeeds at 350 knots
I flew Mike Stones new model yesterday and got an overspeed warning before I cleared the CFB Cold Lake perimiter fence. Could someone tell me how to alter the airfile to allow for a realistic maximum value.

I could be mistaken but I beleive that the overspeed is controlled in the air craft cfg file. Look in the engine section. I wish I could be more specific but I am at work and do not have a aircraft cfg file to look at . But I am pretty sure it is in there somewhere.

Good question. I checked into the .cfg file but could not find anything. There is a section called [Reference speeds], but altering these did not seem to help. Anyone else out there know the answer?

There should be a section called TurbuneEngineData
In this section you might find your answer. I am reasonably certin that the engine performance is controlled here and not in the air fie.
But there is a software called AirED I recently down loaded it from somewhere
. Sorry i can not rember where I found Google it and you will probaly find it 8) If for some reason you can not find it send me a PM with your email address & I will send you a copy..

Hey Craig havent checked but this should be what controls it in the cfg file...
[General]
atc_type=BOEING AIRCRAFT
atc_model=B727
editable=1
performance=Max speed: 598 mph\nRange: 2,728 mi\nCeiling: 33,000 ft.\nEmpty weight: 99,370\nLoaded: 190,090\nPassengers: 145 typical
another thing is to make sure you have FS display the actual airspeed instead of the "indicated" airspeed on the panel...
hope this helps...

Craig,
Speed limits are in the .air file for each aircraft. You'll need AirEd to do the editing of this file. As an earlier post said, search for AirEd with Google. The author is William M. Roth.
Before you open the .air file with AirEd, be sure to make a backup copy in case you end up butchering the original. There's a lot of stuff in the .air file that is unclear (even to the AirEd author) and a mistake might be very difficult to repair.
I found two speed values in the file; both should probably be revised:
Line 316 specifies "Mmo" (Maximum Mach No.)
Line 1101 Primary Aerodynamics is a list of values.
Click on the + sign to show the list. Part way down is a value for "Vmo" (Maximum speed in knots)
I don't know if Vmo is KIAS or KTAS, but likely to be KIAS.
Pick some numbers that make sense to you and try it out. You can always go back and revise them again.
Good luck Craig. Let us know if you have any success.
Regards,
JerryH

Got it sorted now, set Vmo at 1500 KIAS and now I don't have enough thrust to overspeed
I also managed to land the beast without killing myself for the first time

When I've edited .air files, it's line 316, Mmo which has controlled the overspeed. Set the Mach value to what you want - that will usually do it.

one more thing, I want to either decrease engine strength at idle or increase the braking strength, I'm struggling to stop at CFB Trenton with the airbrakes , reverse thrust and parking brakes alll active from the moment the nose touches the deck, even with this I have to taxi off at 30 knots without havin stopped

Craig, I have a mach 2 speed record breaker that can't go faster than 700kts.
Hopefully ozzy's fixing it.

Craig the Delta 2 dynamics are undergoing testing at the minute by Woodie. We've had loads of troubles. Get one thing right, another goes wrong
I'm sure we've nearly got it sorted now, then I'll release the fixed FDs
as she is a lot of fun to fly 8)

craig hope this helps- its from a readme for another a/c carrier for FS...

You can use the program AirED ( available at flightsim.com ) to modify any air file of any carrier aircraft to include superspoilers....just search for the entry Spoiler Drag and increase the value to somewhere between 30 000 to 40 000 then save the modified air file.
