Well, I thought that I might one day be able to rebuild an aircraft for me to fly.  Turns out I was wrong...  Thanks for the heads-up Doug Sad

Will I'm sure we can come to some arrangement. What you need is a sheet of A4 paper, then I'll describe the folds for you Wink Grin

This might be still be possible. Private owners can get away with many things that maintenance organisations could not. You only have to check out my recent topics in the Photos forum to see how popular restoring vintage aircraft is these days. These are usually registered under a Permit to Fly as they're not used for commercial purposes. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to obtain genuine parts for these aircraft so you have to repair the original parts, find alternatives or make your own.

I have no problem with this at all. However, I would baulk at the idea of salvaging parts from a burned out hulk. Roll Eyes

LOL Maybe that should be the other way round. Wink If you're prepared to do the work I think you might be better off with one of the modern homebuilt types. These are very pretty little planes made from the latest materials at a fraction of the cost of a conventional aircraft. Here's a couple of examples.

It seems that the Air Tractor is a pretty popular work horse! It also seems to be that it only comes in the one paint scheme, yellow with blue trim. Here are 2 shots of the Air Tractor that I am sure many of us would not mind coughing up a few bucks for!  Wink

Nice Tractor!

A Tractor with floats!  Shocked

I think with so many people sharing some photos in this thread, it is time for it to go into the "photos" forum!  Wink

The Air Tractor with floats is known as the Fire Boss. There was an article about it in Aviation Canada a while ago. They use it a lot up here in Canada to fight forrest fires. It's made by Wipaire Inc out of St Paul Minnesota.
