I cannot get a setting for elevator sensitivity that keeps the default Baron 58 in FS2004 from pitching quite wildly, especially on final approach.  It's like it's flying through severe turbulence, even in "clear" weather.  Am I doing something wrong?  Joystick is correctly calibrated and I don't have the problem on all the planes in FS2004.

Can I go into the cfg. file and do something?

I have downloaded the AeroCommander 500/520 from the web and they fly PERFECTLY in this regard.

HELP!

The default baron is a little "twitchy" in pitch (is that pitchy?)  Tongue.

Three points to help smooth that out.

1. Trim
2. Trim
3. Trim

Also, make sure you're slow enough. For your current configuration (flaps) a good guesstimate is your stall speed+5kts+the full gust component.

The default baron is not a easy plane to handle.
I have found with the realism sliders set to max that it handles a little easier. Avoid over control learn to use small corrections. Adjust power during landing helps as well. But once it starts bouncing it can be hard to stop. The trim settings are a big factor. But with practice you can master it. Then when you are ready try landing it with a stiff cross wind.
If you think this plane has problems do not fly the piper tomahawk even the real macoy is a begineers nightmere come true. It is a single engine top wing T tail airplane. Which is why it is so hard to land not enough prop wash going across the tail. 8)

If you haven't run across this before, try this and see if helps a little. Open the FS9.cfg file with NotePad, scroll down to the heading [CONTROLS] and add this line:

stick_sensitivity_mode=0

I usually insert it at the 1st or 2nd line but I don't think it's critical.

If that doesn't help enough...... open the Aircraft.cfg for the default Baron, find the line called "elevator effectiveness" and reduce by a small amount.  E.G.,  if it is set at 1.0, change it 0.75 and see if that helps.

Good luck

True you can do what calb suggest and it should help.
But I do not like to mess with the orignal settings as I feel this takes away from the realism. But that is just me. However sometimes you have no choice. I have found some plans do not have enough control and only a few with to much control. Most of the problems I have encountered have been with the rudder not having enough control making it hard to bank.

I find I have the complete opposite problem. All the default aicraft require little to no co-ordinated rudder to maintain a 2-min turn, in fact some require opposing rudder!

In the Baron Aircraft cfg file make the following change:

elevator_effectiveness = 0.4  //was 1.0
