Jamie,

I use the sound package by Aaron Swindle for the R985 engines.  My source was FlightSim; filename is wasprsnz.zip.

It may also be available here at SimViation or at other sites.

Hi Jerry ,

Thanks for the suggestion . I could only find that zip at FlightSim , but could not get the file for some reason .  I tried about 5 times and kept getting the notice that it was not a valid archive .   One download was only 486 KB and another was 1.4 MB .  Not sure what the problem is , but shall try again late tonight .

Thanks Jerry ,

Jamie

P.S.

I failed to mention that I am using FS2002  Pro and the really nice Super G-18 twin Beech .  Wish it had  a complete virtual cabin , but only has the rt. side .  Really a nice plane .

Jamie,

I just logged on to FlightSim and located the sound file with no problem.  Doublecheck your spelling.  It should be wasprsnz.zip.  The last letter is a Z, not a 2.

Hope it works for you next time.

And the file length is about 1.1 MB.

Hi Jerry ,
I have a new ISP and like it a lot , but am unsure of an accellerator it has .  I tried to get the file with no luck and disabled the accellerator and got it perfectly .  I am about to give the sound a try . E-mail sometme if you have a moment .  I hate to fill up this forum with my stuff .
Thanks Jerry ,

Jamie

Hi Jerry ,

Thanks for telling me about the radial engine sound file .  It is the first good one ( besides the R4-D )  that I have experienced and , to me at least , sound is highly important .  I tried that sound but was way to heavy for the D-18 .
It has been a number of years since I rode in a real D-18 , but this sound is a little harsh seems to me , but basically very good .  Most sounds seem to take on an unrealistic  " buzz " type sound at higher RPM's , but this one is very good .

Thanks Jerry ,

Jamie

You're welcome, Jamie.

Sounds are important to me too.  Since the visual part of my aircraft is a flat 17-inch screen, the only realism I have is in the sound files.

I'll stay with the forum for now, rather than email.  Don't be concerned about filling the forum with your stuff.  The resources in these forums are too valuable to pass up.

Regards,

HI again Jerry ,

I purchased a 19" monitor thinking it would be so much better than my 17" CTX ( CRT ) monitor .  I am back to using my 17" mostly because I like , and use , the roller type brightness and contrast controls it has and I do make changes quite frequently .  The new one has the button type controls and adjustments don't seem to respond quite the same . I like this 17" monitor and the sounds you suggested made the G-18 really nice .
