STARTING FS! (Read 334 times)

Hello, it's me again, the new-be!

If I start FS when I forget to insert the CD I need to restart my PC if I want to go into the sim. FS won't start even when I do insert the CD and try to restart.

I also don't like the settings, or opening page when I start FS. I would rather see that it goes straight into the default flight. Some have said it is possible, but they didn't say how. Even when I select a flight as default (previous flight, for instance), it still goes into that screen.

One other thing is it possible to turn the flight tips off (those tips which pop up when you have your engines off or altimeter at wrong setting). HOW CAN I TURN THEM OFF?

Thanx!

roberto,

In the "Settings" screens there is a checkbox to turn the flight tips on and off.

In the fs9.cfg file ther are some line entries that control how the program boots.  One of them controls whether the splash screen shows up...one whetehr it goes direct to the flight and so on.  I do not remember the exact lines right now.  If you look at your cfg file... you might be able to figure it out on your own.  The values if I remember correctly are wither 0 or 1.  If the splas screen entry is currentyl at a "1" and it is "on" then try "0", and it should not appear.

MAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILE BEFORE PLAYING WITH IT!

See the sticky thread at the top of this Forum for how to find the fs9.cfg file.

As to the CD issue....... download the "No CD" patch from the files library here and install per the instructions.

Hope this helps.

best,

.................john

To not display the opening screen just change the line in your fs9.cfg file that reads
Show _opening_screen=0 [ the zero means off or false ]
so setting it to 0 will turn it off
You will also notice a line that reads
show_flight_tips=0
Make sure these lines are both set to 0
THis should go straight to your default flight and no tips should display 8)

Mine goes to the default flight. The way to do it is:

1. When you get into FS, click create a flight.
2. When you exit and start FS again, it will show up as that.
3. FS always shows the last window you had.
