HI all.

I just wanted to let everyone here know that I will be unable to answer questions and such on this (or any) Forum beginning about May 27th and continuing until about July 22.  I will be half way around the world in Japan.

The Mods will be holding down the fort for me here while I am gone.... and I certainly thank them for the help.

Between now and May 27th it is very likely that my participation here will steadily decrease as I prepare for the trip.

Of course, I will be picking up work on my simpit project once I return.  When I check back into the "Homebuild" forum in July.... I hope to see other people's cockpit project pictures sitting here.

My best to you all.  Have a good late spring and early summer.  Grin

best,

....................john

P40_warhawk,

Sorry about that  Wink.

I'll see what I can get time to do for you before I leave ..........but NO promises.  I have a TON of stuff to do before I head for Japan.

BTW..... how I started with the design of my pit is to sit in the driver's seat of a car and take basic dimensions.  Basic ergonomics determine a lot of stuff.  You need to be able to see something in a location....you need to be able to reach it...and you need to be able to fit IN the space reasonably.

Doing your own "study" will result in a "fit" that is customized a bit for your body.  If you are not re-creating an exact replica of a specific aircraft (I'm not) it opens up a lot of design freedom.

Also do a Google "image search" for aircraft cockpits and study the images you find.  Lot at design concepts.  Some have pretty precise dimensions shown.

best,
