Hi,

Both my lad and I would like to fly together on the Zone but it would appear that we have a problem Huston.

I run on XP he on Me. Both our systems are networked on a cross over cable. His system access' the web via mine. We both have bought and paid for copies of the game.

When we try to fly against each other on a LAN game everything is fine but when we go onto the Zone that is whenthings begin to happen.

We can both get into the room, but when we go to join the game in the Ready Room my CFS loads up and I join the Ready Room.  He tries  joining the room and that is when the problem arises.

My system will load up and I get into the room his freezes in the process and it does not matter how long we leave it his CFS won't load up.

He can quite happily play his other games on line but not CFS

His video card is a 3D Prophet Kyro series card and he has more than enough memory.

I do hope some one can help because it would be fun to fly together online.

Many thanks in advance.

When you connect to a game did you make sure CFS was not running before hand, because it can cause the game to not respond/ not connect to the online game.  If you connect to an online game on MSN gamezone without the game started it should start the game and then connect you to the online game..

Hi-D

Thank you for your reply,

The way we use is to have the CD in the drive this will start the game but we exit out of the game software at the earliest opportunity.   We do this before logging into the Zone.

So we are now there with the CD in place but the game not activated so that when the host starts the game to move all palyers from the lobby to the ready room so that the system starts the game up automatically.

This is where we get the problem CFS will start but stall at the mulitpalyer section within CFS where it informs you that you have to be online etc and that it may take a few minutes etc.

We have even tried joining the game using the IP address in some circumstances and yet it will still stall at this same point.

What firewalls are you using if any, do you have a firewall working across the network and/or the internet, also does your son use a firewall that is across the network and/or the internet.  If you are using a firewall across the network try turning it off and see if that works.  Also since your son if connecting via your computer to the net, there is no need for him to use a firewall, assuming you are using one.  The firewall may need to be reconfigured to let the traffic for CFS through.  I do not recommend turning the firewall off as that will dramatically increase the risk of a virus or hacker breaking into your computer.  Some programs can work online even when a firewall is running, but some can't.  If you are using the XP firewall this should not have a problem with online programs as it is fairly lax at letting traffic for these programs through.

If you are using a different firewall to the XP one, try reconfiguring it to let CFS traffic through, or disable it and use the XP one.
