I took a stroll through the fantastic images of Old Warden, posted by Hagar, and I read that he thought his camera was a bit shy on the way it handled the nice even light levels of the cloudy bright day...........I really like those days, as you can bring out a bit of extra detail if you work the pics in Photoshop.
Here is his Tiger Moth as he shot it, then the way it can be enhanced a bit with the use of a scratch built border and some colour enrichening, contrast heightening, and some removal of distracting wingtips.........

Thanks Ken. You might have done better with the originals. These are all in 2304 x 1728 resolution. I hastily cropped/resized them with IrfanView to reduce the file size for posting here. I must admit to tweaking the Gamma correction on some to brighten them up a little but that's all. This pic was in fact one of those. I'm sure I could have done a much better job in PSP7 if I'd taken the time although I don't have anything like your experience.
When I have the time I was thinking of posting some of my better photos in a higher resolution on my Lair. I'm flattered & so pleased you think they're worth keeping. I still have much to learn where photography is concerned. Thanks for your encouragement.

Actually Craig, for all commercial graphics manipulation, Photoshop is the industry standard and has been for a very long time 8).........I started using it on version 4.
For home use, there are a great many users of Corel Draw, since it is quite a bit less expensive.......
Doug, I will have to watch your Lair, for the larger versions, .......I have so many extra CD's sitting here, awaiting some rare and interesting data........

For what Ken did, Paint Shop Pro is more than adequate. As Ken stated, though, Photo Shop is the graphics program "of the professionals".
Paint Shop Pro can use most third party filters for Photoshop.
The Corel series are also an economical alternative to Photoshop.
However, keep in mind that image manipulation is helped by the tool, but it is still very much the artist who is in control.

Well, I thought I would offer my own version of the plane. Here's a leftover from 1969...

Sorry guys. I prefer the original. This is how I want to remember it & the reason I took the photo in the first place. I don't mind people using their skills to enhance the image if necessary but never cared for all this gimmicky stuff.

If you want to play see what you can do with this.
Apart from resizing for posting it's just as it was taken. It won't bother me whatever you do with it.

I hoped it was. Just making a point.
Somehow it's different when the original is your own photo. I don't know how others feel but I tend to be protective of my baby.

Sorry doug, mine was not meant to be a joke either.
I know you own the copyrights!
Mine was meant to show the "historical" differences. Maybe I should have done the plane in Black & white and the background in color. I was trying to show the Past and Present. No offense Doug.

None taken Dave. As I said before, I was just giving my opinion. Anyone is welcome to do whatever they wish with anything of mine. I'm not forced to look at it.

Doug, I almost feel sorry for posting the original shots which seem to have initiated a move towards making major changes to your images.....
My intent was only to remove some of the dull overcast grey appearance of your original shot, and brighten it up without changing the real appearance with "artsy input"....... ???

It's no big deal. Each to his own I say. It would be a dull world indeed if we all liked the same thing. My comments weren't intended to be taken too seriously. Wish I hadn't mentioned it now. Carry on chaps.
