Well, today at the Ft.Lauderdale Air and Sea Show disaster struck. During the performance of Ian Groom. He was in the middle of his routine when he began a flat spin, it started out looking OK, but then as it continued to approach the water, didn't pull up and slammed into the water. Ian Groom was killed. He made it through the impact, I had my scanner with me and tuned to Coast Guard frequencies. He was quickly picked up and then a small Coast Guard boat brought him on shore by pulling up to show center and unloading Groom into an ambulance. He apparently died on the way to/at the hospital. This is a great loss in the aviation world. The cause of the crash isn't known at the moment. I have pictures of everything that unfolded after the crash, they will be uploaded somewhere soon. After the crash, we all knew he was in bad shape because a coast guardsman said over the radio something to the effect of it was most likely too late and he was un-saveable. Once I clear up my thoughts, I'll post more. By the way, his aircraft was recovered a few hours later, I have images of that also.
