The CFS3 Nationality Expansion Kit ~ Redux Edition is finished and is now available here at Simviation. The Redux Edition of the NEK supercedes all previous editions and parts; the old version and parts are no longer supported.

Many of you are familiar with NEK already but those who aren't can visit the following web site for more information:

CFS3 NEK ~ Redux Edition Information

What's New

- A welcome change for most people is that all the required components are now in a single installer.  This is accompanied with what I think will be easier to follow installation instructions and support documentation: ie. a lot less to read to get going.  (However, now that I've said that, please take the time to at least read the installation steps as you proceed. Smiley )

- There are two other (optional) downloads for the NEK ~ Redux Edition.  A "Voice Packs" package will save people the manual installation step of copying and renaming the stock files.  An "Advanced Animations" package adds the customized cutscenes files that allow the default characters for the new nationalities to be displayed in the UI and during the post-flight cutscenes (you'll still see the new characters in the cockpit of the aircraft and when you initially eject).

- The EFE, FRV, ITY and RUP nationalities have been dropped.  A US_Marines (USM) nationality has been added.

- 12 new pilot biographies have been added since Part 17 was released.  Now all nationalities have at least 2 default pilot biographies.  Also, some of the earlier pilot photographs have been upgraded.  (This brings the total number of pilots added by the NEK to 40.)

- All 14 nationalities have at least one default custom painted pilot character. Some of the differences are subtle but I assure you the nationality titles, shoulder patches, wings, etc, are distinct on the various uniforms. Wink  In turn, with the optional Advanced Animations package, the custom cutscenes are support for all 14 extended nationalities.

- Nanni's "Troopers" are now incorporated into the NEK.

- Charlie Simpson and Martin Wright's RAF Country Switcher (cswap) is now incorporated into the NEK and pre-configured to support the new nationalities.

- A new version of the Firepower-NEK Compatibility Update is included with the base package.

- A patcher for the two Spitfires that used the EFE nationality are included in the base package.

As always, I'm greatful to the people who've contributed to this project over the last year.

I'd also like to say a special "Thank You" to Pete for all his assistance over the past year and for hosting the NEK.

Cheers,
RCAF_Gunner

As a convenience for people with dialup connections, and for others that'd just prefer it, the complete NEK merged into a single installer can be sent to you on CD for a donation of $5.00 in Canadian funds.  Details are available on my contact page:

http://members.shaw.ca/rcafgunner/nek/docs/11%20-%20Contact.htm

Donations collected over and above my costs to burn and mail the CD will be forwarded to the web site maintenance funds of my choice.

Cheers,
Gunner
