Any type of Pedal System. I am considering getting these to enhance my flying experience!! I am using the Saitek control system and love it, see below:
...

I was considering adding some pedals to my et up to really make it closer to the real thing. See link:

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=CHP-PDL-111

Anybody using pedals and if so, do you like them and are they worth it?
Thanks for your time!

Dave

Dave,

IMHO.........

Until you have used pedals you have NO idea of how much they add to the sim.  It makes flying WAY easier....particularly tough stuff like crosswind approaches.  Taxi-ing is nicer too.  The differential toe brakes on the CH pedals make turning a "heavy" on the ground much easier.

I am currently using the CH Products usb pro pedals.  Although plastic, they are built VERY solidly, and the setup is a total snap in Win XP.  Plug in.... Win XP recognizes them without a driver added....and away you fly.  You can find them for about $110 USD.  The main things that I would change about them is that in a real aircraft the pedals are a bit wider apart, and the footrests are a bit more "boxy" in shape.

I hate to void the warranty (which is excellent) but eventually for my simpit I likely will keep the "guts" of the pedals..... but will change the "look" of the pedals themselves and also the width to more accurately reflect the "heavy" type styling and spacing.  With the pilot's yoke pitch control arm running up between your legs...... the spacing on the Pro Pedals is a bit awkward...... a little too narrow.

BTW...... There is a REALLY nice set of pedals up on EBay right now ending shortly that are pretty darn realistic looking and look very solid for construction.  If I remember correctly they are the "Elite" brand.... and are gameport based.  Elite is a supplier of the "next level up" type flight simulation controllers.  (With XP it appears that you CAN mix usb and gameport controllers from what I hear.)  Search "flight simulator" on Ebay.  I think they are about $250 USD or so.

Hope these thoughts help.

best,

..................john

PS:  Nice "clean" little sim setup you have there.  Smiley

Thanks for replying John, I appreciate it. That is all I wanted to hear. Now if only my system (which UPS has taken control of), would arrive! I think I will be adding this! Thanks again John!!

Dave,

I was being serious and complimentary.  That is a nice setup...... it lays out nicely in the desk space and is very uncluttered.  The operant word was "clean" not "little"  Wink.

best,

................john

PS:  Shop around on the price for the CH Products pedals....... I think you can do better than what you posted.  And they frequently are on EBay new in the box... check that too.  I've occasionally seen them go cheaper than $100.00 USD on Ebay.

Thanks Bird! I only use the keyboard for a few assignments really. I have gotten used to looking and using it that way!  Wink Kind of like a "center console" LOL

I also use the X-45 and absolutely love the HOTAS combo...my only problem in using pedals would be that my left middle and forefinger would feel awfully neglected if I stopped using the rudder under the throttle!  lol

Great edit, Bob.&&&&&&Google it. &&&&www.google.com
