Relax...the 747 flies just fine with only 3 engines operative. Just add some rudder trim to counter the yaw motion caused by the assymetric thrust.

Nexus is right, the 747 flies fine with an engine off. Whenever I fly from LAX to Sydney I always turn the two outside engines off to reserve on fuel. Just turn up the throttle a little bit more and if your still decending, then you can turn around and make an emergency landing.  Grin Have you tried turning the #2 engine back on?

Yes, But when I do It trys to start then it cuts off. I am going to try to extend the flaps to full and turn no.3 off

whatever you do...do NOT extend the flaps. I assume you're at FL280 and the flap system is not designed to be deployed at that altitude, and especially not at those speeds you're flying up there

You should be fine with only 3 engines, just keep on with the flight  Smiley

If you have the strees causes airplane damage box checked I do not think it will allow to lower flaps at that speed and altitude. But if it does we will be reading aout the crash in the FSSIM news  Grin
At those speeds the flaps would be ripped right off the air frame and more than likely put you in an uncontrolled spin reulting in a big crash. As far as the engine shutting down on its own check fuel levels and make sure that you do not have a transfer switch set on somewhere as this sholud not happen unless you set it up to happen, or you run out of gas. 8)

During a multiplayer i was flying a DC-3 and had completed a flight to a nearby airfield and taxied around and refuelled whilst i waited for the others to arrive, then i parked and turned the engines off.  When i started them up again both of them burst into flames   Shocked Just my luck!

I often mess around with settings so i may have left some kind of failure on, but it was very strange when it happened.  I was in third person view and was watching the nice smoke effect of the engine start-up, but i got a load flames aswell. Shocked

Hi-D,

Hummm......... I am wondering if you have some sort of freeware or payware add-on installed that added such effects to your sim....and maybe you have forgotten that you installed it?  Or the effects you are getting were part of an add-on that you installed that you wanted for OTHER stuff........ but also added the engine problems and fires?

These situations I have never seen posted anywhere before for the defauklt sim.

best,

.......................john

I remember installing an upgrade for the smoke on the DC-3 from SimV, i can't find the file right now, but that is what i was admiring.  I am using FS2004 Explosion as my aircraft destruction program right now, but i was not then and i can't remember what program i was using then.

Edit: i found the smoke effect:

Edit (again):
Smoke
...
Fire
...

Not a major fire, but a still a fire, it was obviously done using smoke effects.
