This is no joke.  Qanats are being sued for Copyright infringment by a Virtual Airline.  Read the VAs Press release here http://www.jetstarairlines.com/pressrelease.html.

I am the owner of Sservices Airways VA and would like to say that we fully Support their battle - after all Airlines do it to us all the time

So, one finger typed before the other, no problem.

As to the lawsuit, it would be interesting  to see how it goes.  Note that there IS 'damage' to the VA, since by QANTAS causing the confusion, their website cost has increased.

It appears to many people as to being akin to a joke.
Apparently this VA had neglected to register it's trademark until Qantas had registered Jetstar, according to quite a few sources this occured a month after the fact. Secondly, there is TWO vastly different markets in TWO different countries in two different hemispheres.
To say that the VA's internet traffic has gone up as a result? The web address' are VERY different, two; the web address for Jetstar here in Aust is plastered literally everywhere in newspapers, billboards, TV etc.

This has not even made the media here in Aust at all, so their extra traffic must have come from bemused flight simmers who have seen this rather amusing little tale, popped over & had a look!!! Smiley

I think the conflict here Guruswarmyoz is that the logos are supposedly similar (I haven't seen either, but I'm going to look it up) as well as the name in general.

Unfortunately, you're right.  If the copyright wasn't filed prior to Qantas' using of the name, there isn't much the airline could do.  The absolute MOST the VA can hope for is a small settlement, but I'd say even that is a longshot.

Great story nonetheless!

Great edit, Bob.&&&&&&Google it. &&&&www.google.com
