Mornin all! I have a cfs2 amphibian aircraft that I would like to import into fs2k2 the aircraft imports O.K. but FS2k2 does not recognize the cfs2 float designations. Is there a fix for this?

Hi Glitch. Which floatplane is this? I haven't tried one but assume a proper CFS2 floatplane would work fine in FS2002 or FS9. The floats are defined in the Aircraft.cfg [contact_points] entries. Class 4 gear is floats & 5 is water rudders. You might need to add the FS water effects entries.

Hi Hagar it is my Zephyr, floats fine in cfs2 but crashes when I try to land on water in fs2k2. What water effect entries might I need and where would I place them? I can usually get done what I need in cfs2. But Fs2k2 is still a bit of a mystery to me.

Whenever in doubt I use the default files for examples. The only FS2002 default amphibian is the C208 Caravan. This is the effects entry from Aircraft.cfg.

[EFFECTS]
wake=fx_wake
water=fx_spray
dirt=fx_tchdrt
concrete=fx_sparks
touchdown=fx_tchdwn_s, 1

There are 3rd party water & splash effects posted on various sites if you wish to add them later. You can also compare the [contact_points] entries with yours to see if there's any obvious difference.

If you still can't figure it out, send me the aircraft. I'll see what I can do.

PS. Oops. I forgot I already have it. I'll mess around with it in FS2002 later.

The problem seems to be in the contact points. I added the effects entries and still no joy. I compared to the Caravan and the differences were glaring at me, too many float entries not enough total entries. I guess I will start with the caravan point lay out and edit my values in and see what I can come up with. I will let you know how it works out.

I may have found the problem I adjusted my damping ratio settings and managed to land on the water. The wake effects are all wrong though. I think I will have to redo all of the contact points this weekend cause it floats too high out of the water.... but it will land though now. Many thanks!
