Hello! Once again the newbe to FS2004!

Where and when can you make specific sellections i.e. custom installation when installing FS2004!

- I would like to select 10 ATC voices
- I would like to select which scenery to install. I think I'll never fly in South America, Australia or East Asia so I wouldn't install them. (Would excluding these, i.e. excluding Australia make my flying in Europe slower?)

And one more Q? Is it possible to turn off the opening screen so that my default flight opens when I start FS.

Hi Roberto. It's a while since I installed FS9. I don't think it has some of the install options from FS2002 & earlier versions of FS. These options (Scenery & ATC voices) only affect the size of the install itself. They should make no difference to frame rates or anything else. Scenery is read & displayed as it's required.

You should have no problems with a Full or Typical install providing you have enough space on the HD. Otherwise use the Minimal option to save space. This might slow things down a little as the scenery is read & extracted from the compressed files on the CD as it's required.

You can set FS2004 to have just about any scenery you want and yes you do not have to have the opening screen show up. FS2004 will open with your default flight you set up. The only draw back to a partial install is you will have to have a cd in the drive and it could effect your frame rates when it needs to read scenery files from the disk. It could make fs2004 jumpy. If after you do the partial you do not like the results just uninstall and reinstall with a full install. 8)

I would caution you against not installing half the world. While I fly the vast majority of the time in places I've been or around where I live, I fly in othe cities a lot too.

But I also love (and I'm sure you would too) the Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches package over at AVSIM- its got some great approaches to try (or ways to crash. Tongue

). They're all over the world and are lots of fun. I'm tryuing to perfect one in Equitorial Guuinea, a place where I'd certainly not fly otherwise.

Just a thought!

From Roberto's recent posts he's short of HD space so big downloads would be out of the question. I suggest the Minimal install of FS9 is the only option unless he frees up some space or installs another HD.
