Roger has posted some screenies of the new carriers and his AI developments in Freeware Screenshots over the past few weeks. I posted some of one of my mad fly-bys as well 8)
Have a look for posts by RollerBall Wink

Shocked

This is REEEAAAAALLLLLYYY embarrassing. Trust old Mark to totally oversell the stuff. I'm just an inquisitive amateur with not enough time who likes messing around with FS stuff. Really. The real great scenery designers are people like Arno Gerretson, Richard Ludowise and a whole host of brilliant, brilliant people who work endlessly taking the sims apart so people like me can play with the bits they then give us.

Actually the package is a 4-in-1 Smiley

I've got 3 carriers each complete with an AI package with aircraft that fly from and between them off Houston, Marco I (Florida) and Provincetown. Plus I've now got the NEW F18 (Yaheeeeee) and a Hawkeye flying as AI from the default San Francisco carrier.

All 4 carriers are also fully flight plannable (not just start locations with navaids as with other carriers) so you can fly to or from them yourself.

I haven't added any gizmos like catapults, blast shields or cables mainly because I just don't have the time right now.

It has all been done for a while now and I really must find a coupla hours to get it all together and upload it.

Yep. Here's the one you haven't seen yet Mark. Everything you see is AI

...

...

Trouble is the carrier is much too small and you have to turn a bit of a blind eye when the F18s taxi past each other (errr wingtips overlap juuuust a little  Roll Eyes )

Oh well...can't have it all can you

If Rollerball can make AI aircraft take off and land on an aircraft carrier, then there is more possibilities for my idea as well.

Hey Rollerball, is it possible to make the Carrier itself move across the water? It would be sweet to see a moving carrier with AI planes landing on it.

If it's not possible, then I hope M$ implements that idea on the next sim.

It's a great idea Kat but not possible with the current technology I'm afraid. Hard enough with a static object but if a sharp programmer turned his/her mind to it I'll bet M$ could do it even if the carrier only moved over a small area on a fixed path. But it would take a lot of processing power - more than currently available PCs have I would reckon because of the number of background calculations going on while the sim was running keeping all the points of the model and other necessary data organised and properly aligned in 3D.

Mike - you have a neat way of going about not getting people to help you out.

If you go through the whole of your life that way you will be sadly disappointed young fella.

I told you in my IM that unfortunately I can't help you right now. It's 8.10pm on Sunday here and believe it or not I am working.

I don't think anyone else is able to answer your question or knowing how generous the people are here they would have.

I think an apology might be in order - but maybe we'll wait a long time?

mike it is possible because its been done before....as for how its done is a different question i believe the fsds v2 has an option where you create a elevated landing surface after creating a transparent poly of the deck surface.. maybe this might lead u in right direction.. many other scenery design programs have this feature too although im only a novice at scenery design at the moment

hope this helps Wink
