Effects problem (Read 129 times)

When I add a custom smokesystem to any of my aircraft, it appears the X value doesn't work ???

For example:

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0=3.45, -10.50, 5.30, fx_sparks

No matter how much I change the first value (3.45), the effects stays where it is on the X-axis.

I was wondering if anyone had the same problem, or a solution?

Hi Mandrake,

Apparently the coordinates are listed differently in the [smokesystem] section than elsewhere. Here is a quote from the Shop-FX add=on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Smoke Effects Workshop for adapting the effects to any other jet:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE:
  Smoke coordinates are: "Y"(doesn't work!), "Z", and "X"...due to
  a MicroSoft bug the "Y" coordinate does not work, so the"Y" coord
  entry should always be zero...the "Y" value is instead entered
  within the fx file itself....the other two coordinate values for
  the "Z" and "X" coordinates are entered in the AC.cfg.

  This is why we end up with unique smoke effect files for each
  aircraft, as they usually all have different "Y" values.

  Open the fx files with Notepad to see where the "Y-offset" value
  is entered, and some other effect parameters that can be edited.

An example:
[SMOKESYSTEM] //--default 737-400
smoke.0=0.00, -3.00, -16.5, fx_737_jetsmoke12v6
smoke.1=0.00, -3.00,  16.5, fx_737_jetsmoke12v6

Cheers,
Dave
