is it possible to take an FS9 model and convert it back to Gmax (it is a Gmax model originally) and then mess with it a bit (with the author's permission of course) and then turn it into a FS9 model again?

basically what i want to do is completely redo the texture assignments so that i can simplify the textures it uses and increase the framerates and reload times. i also wanna tweak a couple things on the model. any help would be appreciated and btw, i looked in the FAQ's and past posts and didn't come up with anything.

nar im afraid not.. once it is converted you cannot fiddle with the file unless you have the original source file

hope this helps

May be it would be easier just to make textures smaller-
I mean- to decrease texture size...

Hi,

The only MDL disassembler I found is MdlDisAs
It doesn't seem to work with some types of mdl files, but it might be OK for you.

Here is the homepage for MdlDisAs:

http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/tdestig/id17.htm

As far as I'm concerned, I wanted to add a virtual cockpit to an aircraft which didn't have one, but I never managed to disassemble the mdl Angry , so I started to build an aircraft from scratch  Roll Eyes

Hope this helps,
