Arrival and departure routes in text format is not rare...it's just about if you know WHERE to get them
Go to
www.navdata.at, and download SIDs/STARs for the PMDG737...they are all in plain text format....but use caution: many departures use waypoints that are not directly VOR DME "associated". These could be unnamed terminal area fixes, bearing-distance wpts (have names like D194A, yes this is a bearing from a navaid, but which one?....) conditional waypoints, and CNF's (computer nav fixes, identified by 5 letters. VADIN for example)
A form of FMS is a huge plus, but I guess the FS GPS will work just fine for the CNF's and the UTAF/BD (create the route on the flightplanner by using the "drag to waypoint technique) I believe most of the real world waypoints are included in the default FS navdata, but it may take awhile to locate the unnamed/bearing-distance waypoints
However, Conditional wpts are not a geographically fixed position, but merely depending on aircraft operating state. They are often embedded within stored departures and arrivals, so those procedures will be harder to fly. They are inserted into brackets like this: (INTC) or (LAS-03) to name a few.
Translated into text it would look like this:
KEEP HDG UNTIL 1000 NOT BEFORE 2.5 FROM NAVAID LAVBut anyways, you can always try, some of the departure routes works perfectly without a printed chart.
Edit: DOH!...of course go here!
http://www.adg.dk/airport.asp?ICAO=EHAM(EHAM is just an example...there are PLENTY of charts available)
