The "Circle of Fifths" are a evil group of people that live deep in the thickets of the Appalacian Mountains. The hold Satanic rituals on the Eve of Halloween and on days of the Full Moon.
They too carry axes but not for music .
Oh sorry your talking about chord structure Grin Grin Grin
When I played years ago my teacher told me I needed to learn "therory" and I asked why? He said it will help you understand why certain chords "work" or sound better together than others.
I said "Well why do all the book work and memorizing etc? Just play it if it sounds good its good, if it doesn't sound right try again! That is why it is called "playing music" "playing guitar"
Not "working music" "working guitar" , that is what rappers are for Grin

I'm one of those lucky people who can play by "ear", (it's a gift!), and music theory gives me a headache.
Give me any instrument, tell me a tune I know, and I will play it by "ear".
Whether it's a keyboard, hammered, stringed or blown instrument, I automatically know the correct fingering intervals to produce the tune... Grin...!

The only time it becomes a dis-advantage is when someone asks me to play a piece that I don't know, they stick a piece of sheet music in front of me and say "play this"...and then it takes forever, note by flippin' note... Cry...!
LOL...!
My music playing started in 1936 at the age of two, when I had to reach up to my Mums piano to tinkle the ivories.
..got a lot better at it now since then... Grin...!

I can't be arsed with instruction books, I just sling a 'tar around my neck, wind my Marshall amp up until the valves glow red hot, and terrify the neighbours with a few Hendrix, etc,  riffs... 8)...!
...Fantastic... Grin...!
LOL...!

The circle of fifths is one of those theory things that isn't really useful. Basically, in terms of key signatures, it increases by one sharp everytime you go up five notes. For example!

C = no sharps
G = 1 sharp (F#)
D = 2 sharps (F# C#)
A = 3 sharps (F# C# G#)
E = 4 sharps (F# C# G# D#)

And so on!

It's not really that important. It sounds nice if you do it in reverse, though - C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, etc!
