hi, i installed the viper from simvuation, and the panel from the same place by eric marciano, but i cannot get the radar to work. When the game loads the radar is on and it says his name and copyright detsails, it then does a full revolution and goes blank. can anybody help me with this problem, other than this the plane and panel are excellent, just wish the radar would work.

thank

Hi gehubba,

The radar gauge need FSUIPC to work (the latest version 3.2 to work in FS2004).

Cheers,
Dave

...Well not entirely payware. You can d'load it from Dowson's site.

http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

It will run unregistered and work with add-ons as long as the add-on has a registration key.  I use it  to 'lock' AFCAD2 to FS2004 without problems. You simply need the 'key'. Some  are registered automatically by the add-on, some are given in the add-on readme, and others can be obtained from a thread that Dowson  maintains at:
http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=10812

I believe the radar is f16.gau and has the key listed there. (Edit 5pm: 'registered' the f16.gau in FSUIPC and the radar now works)

Cheers,
Dave

I did not know there was a freeware version, anyway i downloaded it, but i have a problem.  I downloaded the FSUIPC 3.202 and put the dll in the modules folder.  I can't get the user interface up that allows me to put registration codes in.
The files in the download are:
FSUIPC.dll
some documentation
trafficlook
weatherset
weatherset2

Edit: I found it, whilst in flight press alt then go to modules and activate it there.... how simple Smiley

I have a problem, i registered F16.gau by putting F16.gau in the first box then the code in the code section (which i copy and pasted) then click the right button and then the confirm button and when i go back to the aircraft the radar still does not work even after restarting the sim.  I checked the .key file and it is in there but it does not work in the sim.  Even when i turn the radar on using the button it just goes around and does not show any blips.  Thanks for your help. Wink

Dont know Hyvry1-D, know it took me a couple of time due to typo's. Maybe the 'paste' thing is a problem as it would include spaces.

Delete the lines from the .key file(or the whole file as this is your first register) and redo by typing the key..(dont worry bout caps, their automatic)

Here are the lines from my .key file:

[Programs]
f16.gau=DSVTJE5S6DUO

I tried that and it still does not work.

I have the f16.gau in the gauge folder.  What references are there to the radar relavant stuff in the aircraft.cfg and/or panel.cfg?

I don't know if this will help you.
I have installed the radar in my F14B Tomcat in a new window as it follows in the "panel.cfg":

[Window10]
Background_color=10,10,10
size_mm=150,139
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=0
visible=0
ident=37
window_size= 0.200, 0.230
window_pos= 0.401, 0.738

gauge00=F16!Radar Range,  0,124,150,15
gauge01=F16!Radar Mode,  0,0,150,15
gauge02=F16!Radar,  0,15,150,109

As you can see, three gauges are needed, the radar itself and two switches to manage the range and the mode.
Happy flight !!

You did download Eric Marciano's F-16 panel that Kirk recommended right? That is the one I am using.

Open your Modules folder in FS9. Look for the FSUIPC Configuration Settings file. Open it with notepad. It was recommended that you make an entry change in there on what is displayed. Look for the TCASid=(whatever is here) entry and change it to read TCASid=Tail. See if your radar will then work.

As long as in your Main Panel [Window00] you have these entries somewhere, then you will be alright. Note: the gauge number does not have to be 23, 24 and 25, just as long as it is listed in the Main panel window which is Window00 for Kirk's Viper.

gauge23=F16!Radar,  242,529,148,147
gauge24=F16!Radar Mode,  252,511,49,20
gauge25=F16!Radar Range,  299,511,54,20

I have fullf16pnl.zip .
My TCASID=Tail
Those entries in the panel are where they should be.

This is what i have:
[Window00]
file=F16_Falcon.bmp
file_1024=F16_Falcon.bmp
size_mm=1024,768
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=7
visible=1
ident=00
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

......................(other gauges)
gauge23=F16!Radar,  242,529,148,147
gauge24=F16!Radar Mode,  252,511,49,20
gauge25=F16!Radar Range,  299,511,54,20

Harvey, everything looks good to me. That radar gauge should work for you.

Hmmmm, let me ask you this! Where you getting the message in FS9 about, and I forget the exact wording, an unknown application or something like that and if you wanted to load it up? Did you by any chance select no and if so, was there a check box to check so it wouldn't show you that warning again? I can't remember if there was or not.

I ask because for the life of me I can't see why your radar won't work. Appears you have all you need and have done all that is required. Other than double checking to make sure the correct key is entered. You know the mistakes, 5's for S's and 0 (zeros) for the letter O and visa versa.    ???

If all else fails, remove the FSUIPC files from your Modules folder and then reinstall them. Go back and reenter the code again and see if it will work.

You did make the [OldModules] entry in your FS9.cfg file right?

Hi H1-D

Dont have an answer yet, cant recreate your problem.

What OS do you run?  I run XP-Home.

Open FSUIPC.log, in the modules folder, and look for these lines.

DebugStatus=0
............other stuff here
10250 Module identified = "F16.GAU"
   10250 ModuleOK="F16.GAU"
............other stuff here

Do you have other addon dll's in  your folder that could be conflicting..all default FS9 .dll in the modules folder have a file date of 6/12/2003 9:36pm.   If you do, maybe move the addons to a temp folder and try again.

Delete the FSUIPC.ini,...key, and...log files and start over.

Although the gauge works in both panels, (the one that comes with Viper, 9kb, and the one that comes with the panel, 6kb), I use the latter, as the former is a FPS killer on my system.

Cheers,
Dave
