Sorry to add to the woes of those who try to help those of us who have difficulties with downloaded Aircraft.  I have successfully downloaded, and flown, the ID3 B1 B, Grumman Goose and Gazelle helicopter.  However, the other day I downloaded the Coral F-15 by Nimitaka Nishida/Atsushi Tenui, read and followed all the instructions and 'read- me' files but there is no sign of the F-15 in the Change Aircraft section of FS 2002.  When I look in  the Aircraft Folder there it is, complete with Aircraft, Panel, Gauges, Effects and read me files.  Where have I gone wrong?  Any help would be appreciated. ???

What does your aircraft.cfg file say?  In particular, these lines (or similar)

[fltsim.0] ...

ui_manufacturer=McDonnell Douglas
ui_type=F15
ui_variation=F-15C Eagle Lakenheath

Thanks for the swift response.  I have copied what I think is the relevant information from the Aircraft.cfg file.  Not being all that Computer literate, especially changing files, I have done nothing.

[fltsim.0]
title=F-15E Strike Eagle
sim=F-15E Strike Eagle
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
checklists=

There is a lot more but in my opinion not relevant to your reply.

As you can see there are no entries exactly as you described.

Any further help would be much appreciated.

I haven't used this aircraft personally, but it might be that you have to do something rather odd (I've had a couple that needed this trick).
Open FSEdit in your FS directory. Then add an aircraft, scroll to the bottom of the list and you'll find the F-15, double click on it and then save (if memory serves), then close FSEdit and fire up FS. That often cures this... and no I have no idea why Roll Eyes

Hi Tyndareus. Where did you get this F-15? I've searched SimV & can't find any reference to Coral or the designers you mention.

If the Aircraft.cfg has no entries under [fltsim.0] like this

ui_manufacturer=
ui_type=
ui_variation=

it will be listed under Unspecified on the FS2002 menu. If it has those ui_ entries it should be listed under the name in the ui_manufacturer= entry.

Sorry uncle Doug, I'll go fetch the palmolive right now Wink
Actually this is the only working use I've found for FSEdit, for everything else (real work) I use AirEd Wink Grin

I've used it twice. Once in FS2000 & again in FS2002 hoping they had improved it. They hadn't. Angry

It messed everything up so much that I ended up completely reinstalling the sims to fix it. I would never recommend using this buggy piece of kit for anything, let alone installing aircraft. Roll Eyes

Here's the link (I think) for the Coral F-15 http://flightinfo.ens.ne.jp/coral

There are a couple of problems.  It's in Japanese and right now it's generating a 403 error (too many users?).

Here is another one that might work  http://ww71.tiki.ne.jp/~water-t/page008.html (corfx.zip).

The aircraft.cfg files in that one say:

ui_manufacturer=CORAL
ui_type=JASDF F-15J 304SQ

So look for Manufacturer=Coral or just change CORAL to McDonnell Douglas in the aircraft.cfg files.  Notepad is all you need.

I didn't actually use it for the install Doug. I'd already manually installed the aircraft in the FS2002/aircraft folder, but to get it to appear in FS I had to add it using FSEdit. It happened with several vintage aircraft for no apparent reason.... M$, mutter, mubble, curse............

There is always a logical reason for any problem. Nothing that can't be fixed in Notepad providing the aircraft was correctly installed in the first place. FSEdit works by making a copy of the aircraft & installing that. If the aircraft it copies is already in the FS\Aircraft folder you now have 2 versions of the same aircraft installed. This can cause conflicts between the copy & the original.

WebbPA - Sorry for messing you about but you have just experienced one of my 'Senior Moments'!!!   I had another look at the Aircraft.cfg file and I have copied the info for you:

[fltsim.0]
title=JASDF F-15J304SQ(CLEAN)
sim=F-15J_coral
model=0
panel=
sound=
texture=
checklists=
description=Notes: Japan Air Self Defense Force F-15J Eagle(VC version)
ui_manufacturer=CORAL
ui_type=JASDF F-15J 304SQ
ui_variation=CLEAN
atc_flight_number=MACE15
atc_id=15

Apologies.

If the aircraft is installed correctly it should be listed under CORAL on the FS2002 menu.

Hagar - Took you at your word:  If it is installed right it will come up under CORAL in Select Aircraft.  It wasn't so I ditched the lot and started all over again.  Don't ask me what I did differently this time but it is now working and coming up as it should under CORAL.
Many thanks for everyone's help.  I see it stimulated other banter!!! Grin
