The first thing to do is read whatever installation document (readme.txt, etc) authors almost always include with their download.  Follow their instructions and your installation should work.

Otherwise, the general rule is (a) your downloaded panel bitmap (.bmp) files are added to the aircraft's PANEL folder, (b) the existing PANEL.CFG file is renamed "xPANEL.CFG" (to save it), (c) the downloaded PANEL.CFG file is added to the aircraft's PANEL folder, and (d) any gauges included with the download are added to Flight Simulator's GAUGE folder.

Good luck.

I've tested many different panels over the years in all the M$ sims. I always use the same method for installing them. I rename the existing Panel folder to something like Panel.0 before pasting the new Panel folder into an aircraft.

With a simple edit of Aircraft.cfg I can use several completely different panels in different variations of the same aircraft.
